Great video posted on YouTube, pure nostalgic gold for anyone old enough to remember the 80's.
Jim Watt : 'American fighters have difficulty dealing with a good jab'
The best comment on the video:
'Forget about Bruno, I think Des wanted to get Anita Dobson in the ring that night.......'
Made me laugh, because it's exactly what I was thinking. And I fully empathise with Des.
Off topic by a mile here but i read in yesterdays Sun that Kelly Rowland from Destiny's Child just had a baby to someone called Tim Witherspoon,Is it THE Tim Witherspoon's son??

Hahahaahhahahaj nice one
I always liked Witherspoon, he was a friendly upbeat big man. He just got a little mismanaged by the King....
Anyone bought his book?
It must be frustrating for Bruno that he made almost exactly the same mistake in this fight as he did against Bonecrusher. He showed good recovery when practically knocked unconscious by Jumbo Cummings (with the aid of the bell and a 1 minute rest), and then he had enough stamina to finish Cummings in seven. If he had learned to grab and hold when in trouble, I'm sure he would have weathered the storm in the eleventh.
Bruno was sharp, fast and jabbing/moving well. Unfortunately for him, he ran into a Witherspoon who was in high spirits and highly motivated by the promise of a £900,000 payday (we all know how that worked out).
If Bruno had got his shot at the demoralised shell of a champion who was pushed out by Bonecrusher it would have been a different story.
Tim himself is very respectful of Bruno, and went so far as to say that if they had swapped trainers, Bruno would have won.
You only need watch his fight with Larry Holmes to see how complete a talent Tim Witherspoon was, and what Bruno was up against that night. Bruno's management were too protective of him, and as such he arrived at Wembley without the top level experience he needed to cope with a rugged Philly boxer-puncher like The Terrible One.

Frank tried his heart out, bless him, but he just couldn't cope with a fighter a class above.
Witherspoon wasn't even fully fit either (he didn't look it), but he still managed to prevail.
According to Bruno's book he thought that himself and gave him confidence until realising too late that there was nothing wrong with Tims fitness or stamina and Frank had nothing left to hold him off.
Its 20 years next year since Bruno won the title! Im holding a 20th Anniversary Dinner for Frank and raising some money for a charity that raises awareness of mental heath issues. Tim Witherspoon will be coming along too. Anyone interested in attending go to www.seeitnowsports.com for details. Cheers!
I have Tim on Facebook, have done for years and spoke to him a couple times in brief. Spends a lot of time in the UK now.
I read recently, the last week or so, that he more or less threw the 2nd Bonecrusher fight as he was totally fcuked off with King. I also remember a story years ago how he went to Kings office ranting a couple years later, Tyson was there and went outside with Tim and gave him some cash, $10k I think i read and said, "I know Don fcuked up, take this" (Tyson should have kept it as he was fkcuked harder by King in the end!!!
