What is a criteria ?

I'd probably demote Robert Guerrero at this point. To me the 'Not yet...but' category seems more fitting for him.
Re: Boxing IBHOF Outlook: Help me update my list!
What were you basing on when including some fighters and excluding others ?
Re: Boxing IBHOF Outlook: Help me update my list!
I'd put Cotto as definite and move James Toney down a notch.

I'd agree with this. There are a few too many marks on Toney's career but he is still probable. The name that leapt out at me as being surely worthy of a maybe is Carl Froch. At least, he's worthy of being in the conversation with Guerrero, Castillo, Darchinyan, Montiel etc.MachoTime wrote:I'd put Cotto as definite and move James Toney down a notch.

what is in Canelo's career putting him on the list which Kovalev doesnt have ?JCS wrote:Careers?ikorolev wrote:What were you basing on when including some fighters and excluding others ?
Re: Boxing IBHOF Outlook: Help me update my list!
Agree with Horse on Froch. I think he should at least be in the 'Maybe' category.
Re: Boxing IBHOF Outlook: Help me update my list!
Toney is a definite Hall-of-Famer if Mosley is. He is a 3-division champion, 2-0-1 against McCallum, had wins over Nunn, Barkley, Williams, Jirov, Holyfield, and other contenders. Plus he competed effectively at heavyweight.
I know it is boxing and therefore there isn't much of a moral compass, but does anyone think steroids users will be rejected into the Hall-of-Fame?

Dariusz Michalczewski belongs in the IBHOF.
He went 48-0 with a long list of successful title defenses and won titles in two divisions.
I remember he beat Virgil Hill to unify the light heavyweight titles. Yet Hill was voted into the IBHOF, while Dariusz was not.

Oops, not sure how I managed to miss that. Well, Kovalev obviously belongs to at least "not yet".JCS wrote: Did you read that the list as posted was from 1 year ago?

Huck has been in 16 world title fights by age 29, so he is probably worth a mention.
Ward belonged higher up last year and still does. He is considered #2 p4p, and I'm not sure how often a #2 p4p fails to make the hall of fame.
I don't think Paul Williams is very close to making the hall of fame at all.

Re: Boxing IBHOF Outlook: Help me update my list!
With Cotto's win over Martinez this year.. he probably has become a "lock".
Guerrero is due a downgrade.. he has been a bit stagnant.
I don't think Adonis Stevenson is close. Lineal championship yes, but being such a late bloomer.. I don't really foresee him getting in.
Carl Froch is an interesting case. Only fought in one division in which he's never been "THE" guy. Many quality wins though. Doubt there are many fighters in the IBHOF with just 33 wins.
The IBHOF isn't kind to homebodies (excluding UK and USA).. so Huck is facing an uphill battle.
Paul Williams is going to get extra credit as his career was cut short due to injury.
If Andre Ward voluntarily retired today, I'm not convinced he gets in.
Roman Gonzalez is probably due an upgrade.

I agree about Stevenson, especially in light of his arguably declining popularity due to his perceived duck of Kovalev; it seems to me like he's fallen out of favor with fans and the media, and members of the latter are ultimately the key arbiters of induction. Conversely, I think Gonzalez has broken through more with the American boxing media (e.g. being ranked in The Ring and ESPN's P4P list) following his recent lineal title win, so I agree that his chances have increased.

Re: Boxing IBHOF Outlook: Help me update my list!
Cazares doesn't really have a HOF level win and lost to Calderon several times. I think Jhonny Gonzales should be on the maybe list. I think his win vs Mares for me tells me he's been on a high level for a long time and has several boarderline HOF level wins and his losses have been to boardline level guys as well.JCS wrote:What are the thoughts on..
