Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
I'm told this is a title eliminator? Is middeweight really
this bad? How does this bum Heiland get into a title eliminator anyway. I presume it's pretty obvious Macklin won't lose this fight in Ireland. What I don't get is how beating this trash man gets him another title shot.

Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Macklin is just delusional. For some reason, he think that Cotto would fight him if he wins. They may call it title eliminator, but it is highly unlikely that a winner will get a title shot.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
... or Lou DiBella just has good connections at WBC.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
The sad part is that it's an eliminator for Golovkin's belt. So his relatively thin resume isn't going to get much better fighting a challenger that he's already beaten.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Golovkin won't fight these guys.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
If Canelo and Cotto fight in May, then Golovkin fight will be no earlier than August-September and Golovkin's mandatory defense no earlier than December.fergusg wrote:He might have to if he snatches the WBC title from the winner of the (probable) Cotto-Canelo bout, as one of these guys would have "earned" their shot at the belt.ikorolev wrote:Golovkin won't fight these guys.
By that time, he will probably also have the WBO belt. I strongly doubt that defense against these guys will be even considered. Team GGG would either negotiate with WBC or drop the belt possibly moving up or down.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
I doubt that HBO will even want to broadcast the second Macklin fight. After Golovkin gets a WBO belt, he could fight Saunders/Eubank winner. He will also be offered very good money to fight Dmitry Chudinov in Russia, but Golovkin's manager said that Chudinov fight may only be possible in Kazakhstan. Lemieux stock may rise too if he impressively beats Rosado.
In any case, if GGG beats Korobov and Canelo/Cotto, he will probably get more money fights at SMW or LMW making MW options secondary.

My bad. Interim / full title problems.fergusg wrote:Golovkin doesn't hold the WBC belt (yet).Lackeos wrote:The sad part is that it's an eliminator for Golovkin's belt. So his relatively thin resume isn't going to get much better fighting a challenger that he's already beaten.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
It's an eliminator but not a final eliminator, meaning the winner will still have to fight and win final eliminator against one of the top ranked guys in order to become mandatory.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
By the way, what the hell is wrong with WBC ? They can't update their own site ? It has been 3+ weeks since Golovkin stopped Rubio, but Rubio is still listed as an interim champion:

P.S. It is pathetic that having some fake international belt (received after beating nobody Godoy) makes Heiland eligible for a real title shot when there are people like Lemieux or Saunders/Eubank winner who are more accomplished.

Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
I have a feeling sky sports are elaborating a bit, looking at their rankings there is no way this could qualify for a final eliminator.fergusg wrote:According to Sky Sports (when the fight was first announced in July and then postponed):keirw wrote:It's an eliminator but not a final eliminator, meaning the winner will still have to fight and win final eliminator against one of the top ranked guys in order to become mandatory.
"Matthew Macklin will face Jorge Sebastien Heiland in Dublin on August 30 in a final eliminator for Miguel Cotto's WBC middleweight belt."

Another Sky Sports interview (dated 22nd October, 2014) discussing the November 15th fight:
"It is not only Macklin's first fight back in Ireland since 2009 but also a final eliminator for the WBC world title, currently owned by Miguel Cotto."

I'm confused?
But then again, you never know with the WBC........
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Golovkin tends to like to fight 3/4 times a year so cant see him fighting only in August-september after the Murray fight.ikorolev wrote:If Canelo and Cotto fight in May, then Golovkin fight will be no earlier than August-September and Golovkin's mandatory defense no earlier than December.fergusg wrote:He might have to if he snatches the WBC title from the winner of the (probable) Cotto-Canelo bout, as one of these guys would have "earned" their shot at the belt.ikorolev wrote:Golovkin won't fight these guys.

Right, they would probably try to get Korobov fight in May-June.lefty wrote:Golovkin tends to like to fight 3/4 times a year so cant see him fighting only in August-september after the Murray fight.ikorolev wrote:If Canelo and Cotto fight in May, then Golovkin fight will be no earlier than August-September and Golovkin's mandatory defense no earlier than December.fergusg wrote: He might have to if he snatches the WBC title from the winner of the (probable) Cotto-Canelo bout, as one of these guys would have "earned" their shot at the belt.

Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Money has been coming in on Heiland and knocking this line down. -2000 to -650. Cant say I have any idea why. It's in Ireland and a homecoming for Macklin and the Argentine has no power. Even if he wins he will lose.

Macklin. Straight GARBAGE.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Yes, he is shot. He needs to fight Martinez again, this time both in wheelchairs.diddy wrote:Macklin. Straight GARBAGE.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
I had no idea Macklin had a fight after Russ where he very nearly lost to a club fighter. Wow that would explain the $ coming in on Heiland.
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
I always like Heiland... But his size and lack of pop were always a problem for him at the top. Brutally stopping Macklin definately speaks a lot on Macklin's future.

Wow macklin actually lost this... Gotta be done after this. I actually rated him pretty high. Liked his style and workrate. Did the ggg defeat brake him ? Did anyone in here watch this fight ?
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Heiland fought like Solimon on roids. More than likely he is on something. Literally never got tired. Threw a million punches. Average skills. Just a tireless workrate. When that's the case usually something foul is going on but whatever, that's boxing. The Argentinian Sergio Martinez school of juice.

Didnt see the fight, noor know or ever seen heiland, lest this fight, but isnt it a bit rude to throw accusations like that ?diddy wrote:Heiland fought like Solimon on roids. Anyways, no matter the level of drugs, had he been a poor fighter, macklin would have taken him out no ?
Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Possibly, but I have to admit i thought the same thing. His work-rate was unbelievable, just when most would take a 10 second rest, he kept moving forward and throwing quite hurtful punches. He's either on something or got one of the best engines in boxing.Butterbean wrote:Didnt see the fight, noor know or ever seen heiland, lest this fight, but isnt it a bit rude to throw accusations like that ?diddy wrote:Heiland fought like Solimon on roids. Re: Macklin vs Heiland - title eliminator?
Oh, now everyone is looking for excuses because Macklin got his ass kicked by a C-level scrub and Macklin is considered GGGs best win to date. Macklin is now a shot fighter because he lost to GGG
and Heiland was clearly on PEDs because he beat Macklin and these bandwagon fans can't accept that Macklin was just not that good. LMAO, excuses, excuses.. This will become the new norm when it comes to GGGs garbage opponents getting their asses kicked. Macklin was never a world class fighter and this just shows the poor opposition GGG has been facing and how shyt the MW division is.
