Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
I find this to be very disappointing!
If Pulev wins then Im presuming Klitschko will remain WBA and WBO heavyweight champion, pnly further fragmenting the heavyweight division!
Im not sure what Pulev is thinking here, refusing to pay the sanctioning fee's to the WBA and WBO??? If he held the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles then this would provide him with the same monoply Klitschko currently has in the heavyweight division, which would pay off far more financially in the long term!

If Wladimir K gets the tactics right this issue (if true) will be an irrelevance.
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
Maybe it's a sign from him and his camp that they arent that confident in winning.PokerRob wrote:I find this to be very disappointing!

I would not pay a penny to any of the alphabet groups. We all know Klit is the champion.
If Pulev wins he is the champion. No belt is going to make him the champion.Beating the best does.

Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
True, he would be world champion. Noticethe alohabet groups dont even bother announcing their champs as World Champions any more. Simply XXX middlweight champion.
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
By the way, how much sanctioning fees are ?
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
It doesn't really matter because there is probably a rematch clause in the contract. So they would be fighting for those titles again anyways.

Right. I doubt this decision will make any difference to future if he wins (he won't).tiny_acres wrote:I would not pay a penny to any of the alphabet groups. We all know Klit is the champion.

Would be interested to know what the fees would be.
Is it percentage or straight number.

Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
Far as I understood Pulev was only the IBF mandatory... so therefore only the IBF/Linear title is on the line...
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
Not sure how that would work considering Pulev is the mandatory challenge.klitoris wrote:It doesn't really matter because there is probably a rematch clause in the contract. So they would be fighting for those titles again anyways.
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
No. He could of fought for all the belts like all wlads challengers normally do but he didnt want to pay the sanctioning fees for the other titles.HomicideHenry wrote:Far as I understood Pulev was only the IBF mandatory... so therefore only the IBF/Linear title is on the line...
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
Well I would assume that Wlad puts a rematch clause in all his fights like all the other p4p kings. Otherwise we would see people fluke knocking out champs and running away. Imagine if Hassim Rahman didn't have a rematch clause in the first fight with lennox. he would run away from that for the rest of his career, cause he could always say that he's the man who beat lennox.lefty wrote:Not sure how that would work considering Pulev is the mandatory challenge.klitoris wrote:It doesn't really matter because there is probably a rematch clause in the contract. Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
TBH does anyone even care about the belts in the HW division?,everyone knows Wlad is the lineal champ unless Pulev can defy the odds which i just cant see happening but if he can topple Klitschko then im sure it'll be Wladimir chasing Kubrat not the other way round
Bad news if Klitschko has managed to stick a rematch clause in the contract with Pulev being his mandatory, some promoters/fighters like to take the proper route to a title so they dont get bogged down with stipulations from the champ

Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
I assume the WBA and WBO titles would be declared vacant should Pulev win.
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
It doesn't always work that way. Judah lost his WBC title to Baldomir, but retained his IBF title that wasn't at stake (which he lost then to Floyd). ABCs are quite unpredictable, thats why they don't really matter at least to hardcore fans.SteveO wrote:I assume the WBA and WBO titles would be declared vacant should Pulev win.
Re: Only Klitschko's IBF title up for grabs tomorrow!?!?!
The ABC soup titles mean less than nothing anymore. Wlad Klitschko is the world champion. Kubrat Pulev is the No.1 contender followed by Bermane Stiverne. and the rest. If Pulev beats Klitschko, Pulev is the world champion. Simple.
Next question.

Only if it goes to purse bids, I don't think there's anything stopping them from putting one in if they come to an agreement before purse bids.lefty wrote:You cant put a rematch clause in a mandatory title fight.klitoris wrote:Well I would assume that Wlad puts a rematch clause in all his fights like all the other p4p kings.
