Wladimir Klitschko cant win
Wladimir Klitschko cant win
As a lot of the comments in these threads prove, no matter what he does, he cant win. Every opponent he beats becomes a 'bum' after the event.

And you, sir, are absolutely correct.lefty wrote:As a lot of the comments in these threads prove, no matter what he does, he cant win. Every opponent he beats becomes a 'bum' after the event.

Not for me.lefty wrote:As a lot of the comments in these threads prove, no matter what he does, he cant win. Every opponent he beats becomes a 'bum' after the event.
He's a dominant heavyweight champ.
Wlad destroyed the top contender. And it was very impressive as well...seems to me that many are finally acknowledging Wlad as a great Champion.
Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win
Less hugging would definitely help him to win more fans ...
Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win
After he retires, the division will all of a sudden be good somehow.

Do ppl still watch them?
Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win
Yes, and many of his critics complain immediately before his fights, during his fights, and immediately after his fights, yet they'll still be on their computer or in front of their TV watching him every time.kidbazooka1 wrote:Do ppl still watch them?

Some people slag him off. Who cares?lefty wrote:Am I? Have you been reading through these threads tonight?
He's got credit for his win from plenty of people.
He can win. He did win.

Probably a language barrier thing, but you two are on the same side.lefty wrote:Am I? Have you been reading through these threads tonight?Horse wrote:You are wrong.lefty wrote:No, what?
-Yes, it sucks Klitschko doesn't get respect.
-Yes, there are those who appreciate what he's done.
Or something like that :)
Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win

I do not doubt Wlad's talent.I think he is a nightmare for any atg heavyweight.
I just think he is one of the most boring heavyweight champions ever.Even with
his dominating style. One exciting or semi exciting fight does not erase the memory
of the Povetkin Klinchfest.
I respect Wlad as the champion. You would be a fool to not.But I am still not excited to
watch him or many of his fights.

The man had not list in TEN years. And that left hook to end the fight was an amazing punch.
Respect.
Respect.

I don't understand how anyone would find Wlad-Pulev boring, yet find Floyd Mayweather's dull decision wins entertaining.tiny_acres wrote:I do not doubt Wlad's talent.I think he is a nightmare for any atg heavyweight.

The same people who criticize Wlad's clinching are fans of Andre Ward, who constantly clamps his opponents' arms.
I think the negative criticism of Wladimir has more to do with something else.

I did not find the Wlad-Pulev fight boring as I stated it was his one semi-exciting defense.Freedom2013 wrote:I don't understand how anyone would find Wlad-Pulev boring, yet find Floyd Mayweather's dull decision wins entertaining.tiny_acres wrote:I do not doubt Wlad's talent.I think he is a nightmare for any atg heavyweight.

I respect him but I find most of his fights boring.I also find Andre Ward very boring.Yet I respect
Ward the same way I respect Wlad.
And as a fight fan and a fan of its great history I want or expect entertainment in the heavyweight champion.
It may be a double standard as I do not expect it in other divisions. But the heavyweight division used to be
the most exciting division. It has been years since the normal everyday Joe has been talking about the
heavyweight championship. Is it because of having a foreign champion?Or is it because he is boring?
I personally think the later.

Right, because people were loving the post-Lewis/pre-Klitschko era of Ruiz-Byrd-Valuev-Lyakovich-Ibragimov-Chagaev-Rahman trading belts.Blodhemn wrote:After he retires, the division will all of a sudden be good somehow.
Same thing will happen, but the fighters will be even more inept.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win
It is like Gene Tunney - he only lost one fight but because his reign as world heavyweight champion was - boring - his legacy suffers because of it.
Beating people is only part of a legacy, part of being world champion is bringing excitement and exposure to the sport, that is the job of world heavyweight champion - like it or not.
Vlad is effective at what he does, but when he retires, nobody will give too much of a shit outside Germany and the Ukraine (I used 'The' - so what Ukrainians?)

Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win
I agree. It will be after Wlad's retirement before he gets his recognitionfergusg wrote:I’ve come to the conclusion that fighters’ like Gennady Golovkin are appreciated much more than Wladimir Klitschko for the following reasons:
• His fighting style is more aesthetically pleasing
• His fights have been televised by HBO for longer… and has been hyped-up by that network
• There are more north & south American fighters competing in GGG’s weight class
Apart from Golovkin having a slightly better KO percentage, Wladimir Klitschko trumps GGG on almost every criterion, ranging from the amount of world title fights competed in, titles unified, quality of opposition faced, media persona, intelligence, actual dominance in division achieved (not granted by rite of passage by fans), longevity etc.
Very few people seem to give Klitschko credit for the fact that he has learned from his mistakes and has improved significantly as a fighter, in comparison to the man that he was when shared the ring with Lamon Brewster more than a decade ago.
Lennox Lewis & Larry Holmes never quite received appreciation from the American audience until long after they retired. I feel that that we may have to wait another ten to fifteen years before fight fans eventually give the Klitschko brothers credit that they have truly deserve!

Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win
Imho Klitschko could of given every heavyweight champion before him a tough night, including Ali.
If that doesnt express my own thoughts on how good he is, then I don't know what would.

Re: Wladimir Klitschko cant win
I feel like the forum expects every poster to run out and buy Kovalev and Wladimir underwear recently.
Kovalev is the Top 175er.. Wladimir is easily the best HW currently and is Top 20 all-time, maybe Top 15.
We get it. It doesn't mean that we're ALL going to idolize both of them.
