Ok i think they both have a large body of work to compare them.
I will go with Tony as I remember the wars he had with Bunny Sterling who i think i temember Ring magazine has him as number 1 contender. Also he fought overseas a lot. Took on the very great Carlos Monzon.
Fought Emile Grifith in paris, admittesly when he had past his prime. Not interested in this post being disrespectful to Anthony but I think his Dad fought at a higher calbre in a one champ era.
Love to hear other opinions.

Junior is nowhere near dad's ability in his days
Re: Ok it has to be said. Mundine T or Mundine A
Daddy took on the best in the world at the time: Carlos Monzon, and in Monzon's dung hill, where as the son heading towards the age of 40 has yet to accomplish this level, although the opportunity was there.

Now let me think Tony, Tony , Tony four sure. If Anthony keeps his word on fighting the tough yanks or the Mexicons then he may over take Tony.

Tony took on the world. Anthony only talked about it.

To answer your Question, Tony fought the better calibre of fighters no doubt.
Two completely different eras and two completely different mindsets.
Senior fought to give his family a better life, he entered boxing with the arse out of his pants and left boxing not a whole lot better off.
Junior entered boxing to win a world title and was determined from day one not to let the game eat him up and spit him out. He will leave it a multi-millionaire
Both fought their share of stiffs.
Senior's management did not always have Tony's best interests in mind when matching him.
Junior's management always maximised his earning potential, much to the disgust of boxing fans.
Both were without doubt"gifted athletes''.
Two different boxing styles, Senior was an aggressive, come forward style with great speed and hitting power, he would engage regardless of his opponents skill, Tony did have defensive flaws.
Junior a much more defensive style, amazing speed but without his fathers power.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Senior twice, once at Coluzzis coffee bar in the mid seventies
and again on a flight to Brisbane in 2010. A very shy and humble gentleman who looked a million dollars, fighting fit and extremely proud of his son.
I met Junior at a charity auction in 2008, very likeable, charming and generous.

Tony, Anthony has been a wasted talent

Thanks for the summary. Well written. Such a shame Tony didn't retire with a nice nest egg.
Re: Ok it has to be said. Mundine T or Mundine A
Thanks Dale, I'm pretty sure I know which part you don't agree with and that's perfectly understandable. I cant defend the undefensable but I always judge people on how I find them.
Re: Ok it has to be said. Mundine T or Mundine A
Thanks Grant, Tony was badly managed both in matching and financial matters.
Despite what is said about Junior, he is extremely generous to Family and friends.
I'm sure Tony and Lyn want for nothing.

I don't know enough about Tony to say but I think Anthony is somewhat underrated, at least from what I've gleaned from various boxing forums.
