allegedly looks set to box Ricky Hatton into a corner by adding Naoufel Ben Rabah to his stable of fighters.
Ben Rabah is Hatton’s mandatory challenger for his IBF light-Welterweight title while Souleymane M’Baye is No 1 rival for The Hitman’s WBA crown.
M’Baye is already under Warren’s promotional banner with Sports Network. And it looks as if Ben Rabah could be joining him.
But Hatton, 27, has said he will give up the WBA title rather than box again on a Warren show.
Frank just doesn't give up does he

FW does not give up, and I reckon he will do everything possible to try and MAKE Hatton work with him again. However, I doubt this will happen!
Ricky would probably give up his titles, than defend against a FW fighter. If this was the case, Hatton would still be regarded as champion, no matter who holds the belts!
Hatton is THE champ @ light-welter until someone beats him!

This basically comes down to when it the mandatory defenses due. As I recall it then the Tszyu vs Hatton fight was a mandatory defense, so according to rules Hatton should defend vs Ben Rabah in april. If Warren signs Ben Rabah will Hatton then give up the belt? If so then he is regular WBA champ except if M'Baye fights for it first then Hatton is without any belts (see John-JM Marquez).

yeah it's looking a bit dicey on the belts front for hatton. rabah should realise that by signing to warren he's got much less chance of fighting hatton.Freiheit wrote:This basically comes down to when it the mandatory defenses due. i always think in these situations that when a fighter holds 2 belts, the no1 contenders with each organisation should box off to decide who fights the champ. but typically the sanctioning bodies would never c sense and get together like that.
i'd personally like to c hatton-gatti fought at welterweight and given eliminator status by the wbc.
gatti is making his debut at 147 against a respected top 10 contender in thomas damgaard. hatton's the 140ib champion, so i don't c why they both don't qualify for eliminator status.
If it goes to purseoffer Hattons opponent will get the purse of their live (So somebody does win in this scenario)josh fg wrote:Warren is probably trying to make sure his fighters don't think they can get away with doing the same. He also has the small problem of that deal he made with the MEN arena which he will need to sell out. Wonder what would happen if this went to purse bids.
even if that near impossible thing happened, no way would the top contenders even consider risking their title shots.hitman_hatton1 wrote:yeah it's looking a bit dicey on the belts front for hatton. rabah should realise that by signing to warren he's got much less chance of fighting hatton.Freiheit wrote:This basically comes down to when it the mandatory defenses due. If he dumped the 140lb belts they (or WBA/IBF) probably would make it an eliminator. I don't think you can hold belts in 1 division and be made mando in the div above. Hatton could get a shot at the winner of Floyd-Judah without been the mandatory taking only 25% anyway. I don't think he wants to go anywhere near the winner of that though.hitman_hatton1 wrote:yeah it's looking a bit dicey on the belts front for hatton. rabah should realise that by signing to warren he's got much less chance of fighting hatton.Freiheit wrote:This basically comes down to when it the mandatory defenses due. On another note how good is Rabah? Heard very little about him. Why are there so many shit fighters getting manditaries (Judahs last few - now Hattons 2 look average at best) when world class fighters can't get title shots.
Hatton beats M'baye no problems, I haven't seen this Rabah.
I don't see much of a problem here myself, it will go to purse bids and Hatton will start as a heavy favourite. Perhaps he'll need a KO to win, but he is capable of this.
I think it would be quite funny myself if Hatton did take on his mandatories and won.
I remember is similar thing (although no mandatories) with Naseem Hamed.... Acelino Freitas, Marco Barrera. Didn't exactly work.

Looks like Hatton wants to fight in the USA and if this golden boy talk is to believed could do quite well in purse bids.
Just been looking at Rabahs' record and he doesn't look much cope (since when did WBO asia pacific title hold such weight while the European champion doesn't). M'baye is french... and hasn't beat anyone good since Kotelnik, nether fight is particulary attractive.

Oh over the 3 fight deal thing. Bit over the top though just because he hates the promotor who got him to the top.
