The extended life of Shannon Briggs is truly frightening. If someone had told me in 96 when he collapsed versus Darroll Wilson, in 97 when he was outworked by a 50 year old Foreman, in 02 when he gassed versus Frans Botha, that the division would become so barren that a 19 stone, 40 year old version of him would actually fight for the WBC title in 2010 - and go all 12 rounds against a supposed great - and that well into his 40s the chinny, limited mediocrity would continue to be a 'name' on the scene, I would assume the sort of asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs had struck the US while Shannon was out of the country.

The continued existence of the bloated corpse of Shannon Briggs, 2007 onwards, is exhibit A in the trial of heavyweight boxing. He couldn't fight then and he can't fight now. How is a man who was so bad in his prime a Somebody in his old age? It is an absolute disgrace, an insult to boxing.

HOWEVER - that video where he knocks Wladimir in the water is a classic. I'm still chuckling about it as I type my rant!

By Vladimir S.: Manuel Charr has called out Shannon Briggs: “Briggs, let us fight, the winner gets Wladimir Klitschko!”

Manuel Charr still has one goal: Wladimir Klitschko. Klitschko manager Bernd Bönte mentioned Briggs as one of the next possible opponents, so Charr would like to make clear that he is willing to fight Briggs to prove that he is a better opponent for Klitschko than Shannon Briggs.

“Briggs thinks that he can talk and stalk his way to a title fight against Wladimir. But if he really wants to fight Klitschko than he must earn his shot. I want to fight Shannon, the winner of the fight gets Wladimir!” said Charr.

Both Charr and Briggs lost to Vitali Klitschko. “Briggs and I still have something to prove to the Klitschko family. If we fight, we can find out who the more worthy opponent for Wladimir is. I will shut Briggs big mouth and free Wladimir from his stalker. Then I will take on Wladimir Klitschko and beat him”, said Charr.

Shannon briggs is the reason hw boxing has been going into decline for years guys like him botha, rachman, toney,, tarver,minto,grant,rogan,mcCall,peters,skeleton, barrett,Austin, liakhovich an of course fradley harrison who could forget him least with holyfield he was competitive an in my eyes was robbed against valuev wish they would put our British hw prospects in with these guys an finish they're careers
