Sky Sports Clev Bellew 2 Build Up

Post by danamba7 »

What's your opinions on Sky's build up so far? They're obviously making it out to be something it's not which was expected. I did however quite enjoy the Behind the ropes episodes. Far from revolutionary but and easy and decent watch IMO.

The desperation to flog a product makes it seem like watching the shopping channel.

Some training shown on Behind the ropes but not sparring shown obviously.

Maybe its because I'm not especially interested in the fight and decided early doors I was not bothered about watching it and certainly wouldn't be paying, but having 'liked' Ringside in the past on facebook it seems like daily there are untold articles to hype this fight. Sure its happened with all of the big fights previously just really noticed it this time, wasn't sure if it was desperation or what.

I've noticed commercials running for the fight on quite a few different Freeview channels now. They're pushing the ad budget which would indicate a slow take-up from their conventional approach, right?

With the fight being PPV, I instantly made my decision not to buy it and will stick by it. Meaning, I'm not taking any of the hype in.

It's all a con. I'll wake up Sunday morning and know my conscience is clear. I'm not giving them anymore money for semi decent domestic cards but that is half the battle, because if we subscribe to Sky S, we are all ready paying.

I expect tonight's 'Ringside' to be totally jam packed with Clev-Bellew crap, with Adam and Johnny virtually having saliva dribbling from their chops. I don't know how they can keep straight faces. I won't be watching that rubbish either.

A lot of people saying they won't buy it on principle which I completely understand. I'm not buying it but coincidentally I'm out in Liverpool for a night out so I'll be watching it in a bar somewhere. Personally, I think if people are interested but don't want to buy it, they should watch it in a bar/pub if possible. If the bar was going to have it on anyway then your presence makes no difference. Plus the more people that go out to watch it instead of buying themselves, the less PPV buys for Sky.

I've actually got people coming over on Saturday night with kids as well(future fight fans), would of had the card on if on actual Sky Sports and not PPV. How many others are in a similar situation?

It's the sport that loses out as the fights are pushed further away from the public seeing them.

I hope its a disastrous night for PPV and those that are against it stand strong and don't purchase. The fights will be viewable in the coming few days anyway and half the fights won't be worth watching.

Anyone know if the card will be covered on the radio? Talksport have picked up PPV radio coverage in the past, I've not heard anything for this one tho? I'd rather listen to the radio than mess around for hours trying to find some sh!tty live stream.

That's the one thing making me consider paying for the event. However if i do that then Hearn has won so i cant give in lol

I was going to not buy it on principle, but as it gets closer there is no way i am sitting in on a saturday night knowing that it`s on and not watching it.

In Norway there will be no pubs showing it so I either buy it or don`t watch it. Luckily 17 quid is not a problem for me, so I`ll buy it, despite not agreeing with the PPV at all. I´m just a slag at heart really.

Yeah must admit I'm getting itchy as well! Still refusing to pay out of principle, hopefully there'll at least be a proper RBR on here which we can follow instead...

You've lost me, mate. Too cryptic for me. Are you having problems with your waterworks - pissing yourself one minute, nothing happening the next? It happens to the best of them. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids and stop the flow mid-stream to strengthen everything up.

Just watched Ringside for the first time in months. Very glad I did - reminded me what a rip off this PPV will be.

This build-up has all been very predictable and really quite boring. For the level of fight that it is, it really is being over exposed.

Right now there is a show called "best of Bellew" being shown on Sky Sports. Im no hater of any fighter but that must be desperate viewing.
