Cuban All Time Ranking

Post by locoxelbox »

I have made a P4P all time ranking of the best Cuban boxers based on their accomplishments. I made a points system for the most important championships. Points are given for gold and in some tournaments also silver and bronze. It's not perfect, I'm sure it can be improved.
I do miss some weight classes from the 1986 Central American Games so it's possible some boxers might add a point there.
At the 2002 World Cup some boxers won gold despite losing a bout (Kindelan, Austin, Bartelemi) because it was a team tournament. I cut down their points to half (2 instead of 4).
If two boxers have the same points I rated the one with the best result at Olympic Games or World Championships first.

Points are given for the following competitions:

Olympic Games (12 for gold-6 for silver-3 for bronze)
World Championships (7-4-1)
World Cup (4-1-0)
Pan American Games (5-1-0)
World Junior Championships (2-0,5-0)
Goodwill Games (2-0-0)
Central American Games (1-0-0)
Friendship Games (5-1-0)
World Championships Challenge (1-0-0)
Playa Giron Tournament (0,5-0-0)
Cordova Cardin Tournament (0,5-0-0)
Cuban National Olympics (1-0-0)

If someone wants the list with all details send me a pm with your email-adress.

Great list--I am doing my own on all time world amateurs on a points list but as we both know it is far from definitive. Cassius proves statistics can be wrong, but statistics are fun.

Rigondeaux will never reach Savon with my points system. Savon had at the same stage in his career (25 years old) 69 points - 10 more than Rigo has now. Even if Rigo wins every major tournament till the 2012 Olympics he won't reach the 146 points of Savon.
