160?? GGG murders him.Since Floyd is not a middleweight I see no shame in it.
Re: Who can beat Floyd?
Pacquiao might be able to. I wouldn't expect anyone else at welterweight would.

with 9 to 12 months prep i think Lomachenko could beat Mayweather and Pacman... maybe not Salido due to styles but these 2 guys are walking dead men.

Re: Who can beat Floyd?
GGG is only fighting 2 weight divisions above Floyd.......I mean Floyd has only moved up 5 or more divisions so whats 2 more ; )
GGG needs to move down to 154 or shut up or move to 168 and fight the real p4p stud in Andre Ward.
I've said it a 100 times if GGG can make 154 then why isn't he.......Canelo,Cotto,Lara and Floyd or he can feast on Stevens type of fighters.

I can't think of anyone from 140-147 who I would favor to beat Floyd, and that includes Pacquiao.

I was being sarcastic......i kinda feel bad now that u've wrote a paragraph ; )fergusg wrote:Floyd Mayweather started his amateur career as a 108lb light flyweight and eventually progressed to becoming a 126lb fighter before he turned pro shortly before his 20th birthday.hurricanemitch14 wrote:GGG is only fighting 2 weight divisions above Floyd.......I mean Floyd has only moved up 5 or more divisions so whats 2 more ; )
Money May spent the first 5½ years of his professional career as a 130lb super-featherweight.
Mayweather Jr. woke up on the morning of the Canelo fight, the day after the official weigh-in, weighing only 146lbs… and you think it’s reasonable for him to fight a man that typically enters the ring 27lbs heavier than himself?
No disrespect to Gennady Golovkin, but I used to watch every single one of his post-fight interviews on HBO and he regularly called out Andre Ward… until the S.O.G. asked Team GGG to either make him an offer or “shut up”. This led Tom Loeffler to claim that a fight against Ward wasn’t commercially viable because he wanted too much money (even though K2 never contacted Goossen Tutor Promotions).hurricanemitch14 wrote:GGG needs to move down to 154 or shut up or move to 168 and fight the real p4p stud in Andre Ward.
Golovkin no longer seems to mention Ward, but he now regularly calls out Miguel Cotto instead, even though the fight is unlikely to happen.Despite the hype, there is no evidence to suggest that GGG can actually physically compete as a light middleweight. Most of the high-profile 154lb fighters are either commercially unattractive (due to recent losses or anonymity) or affiliated to Showtime/Al Haymon.hurricanemitch14 wrote:I've said it a 100 times if GGG can make 154 then why isn't he.......Canelo,Cotto,Lara and Floyd or he can feast on Stevens type of fighters.
Therefore, there aren’t that many 154lb fighters available for Golovkin to face.
Re: Who can beat Floyd?
Provo defeated Castillo who arguably defeated Floyd, so if Floyd needs another dumb fighter to beat, Provo is available :)

I agree with you 100% Floyd is not a middleweight and is not even a Jr. middleweight. He just fights abovefergusg wrote:This isn’t a personal criticism of you, but merely a trend that I’ve noticed…tiny_acres wrote:GGG murders him.Since Floyd is not a middleweight I see no shame in it.
Why are people constantly discussing a fight that will never happen between an all-time-great that has his fights televised by Showtime, approaching the end of his career whilst rehydrating to 148lbs (Mayweather)… against a supremely talented, but somewhat untested, 173lb HBO-affiliated middleweight that has never defeated a top-tier top-three ranked world-class middleweight (GGG)?:??
Floyd Mayweather Jr. will never ever fight Gennady Golovkin… because Money May is not a middleweight... and there is no evidence that GGG is capable of shrinking down to a catch-weight of 152lbs or less!
his natural weight.Asking him to give up 25 plus pounds is insane.
I only mentioned GGG because I knew someone else would. So I put out my opinion of Floyd not being a middleweight.
And giving away 25 -30 pounds when stepping in the ring against a monster puncher is not only fantasy.
But would be dangerous to his health. No shame in it.Floyd is already fighting above his natural weight as is Pacquiao.
I feel Floyd and Manny could both still make 140 without too much problem.

Re: Who can beat Floyd?
It's cause GGG offered to drop to 154, where Floyd has been sitting on a belt for 2.5 years, is lineal, unified, 2x, REIGNING champ. As such, how can it be unfair to expect him to face the toughest comp at SWW? And remember the fight night weights for Trout Canelo for example: 171-172. SWW often come in 170+ fight night.fergusg wrote:This isn’t a personal criticism of you, but merely a trend that I’ve noticed…tiny_acres wrote:GGG murders him.Since Floyd is not a middleweight I see no shame in it.

Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Ward would come expensive, when his last tuneup fetched him 2x more than GGG's career high. Since he insists he's the A-side, it's on him to make the offer, which he never has nor has he approached Loeffler. In fact, according to his trainer, Ward had nothing to do with any callout emailed to HBO, and wouldn't be ready for such a fight without a couple of tuneups, so 2016 at best.fergusg wrote: No disrespect to Gennady Golovkin, but I used to watch every single one of his post-fight interviews on HBO and he regularly called out Andre Ward… until the S.O.G. asked Team GGG to either make him an offer or “shut up”. According to big Floyd fan Kevin Iole, there's "ample evidence" GGG could make 154:
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing/ge ... 07132.html
That's after weighing 165 for the 30 day weighin. Most super welters would come in heavier.I'm not suggesting that Mayweather should fight Golovkin or should be ridiculed if he declines to do so if such a bout is offered, because he is a welterweight and Golovkin is a middleweight. That said, it's not outrageous to suggest that they fight, because Mayweather does hold a 154-pound belt and Golovkin has repeatedly said he could make 154 pounds easily. If you're a 154-pound champion, then you should be ready, willing and able to fight anyone who can make the 154-pound limit.
There was ample evidence presented just last week that proves Golovkin could make it. On the Monday before the fight, he weighed 161 pounds, just one over the middleweight limit and only seven away from the super welterweight limit.
Re: Who can beat Floyd?
Forget about Ward. Due to the lawsuits, at this moment, he can't fight ANYONE which is exactly why he is not fighting.
Re: Who can beat Floyd?
Can someone tell me where people get the idea that Khan would beat Floyd? All I hear about is Khan's speed, and you need more than speed to beat Floyd.

Re: Who can beat Floyd?
Maybe they thought Ward would muster up a good offer, like the A-sider he claims to be? And clueless, Ward GGG will cost way more than it brings in. This is not a PPV fight, it's an HBO fight, and a very expensive one at that. Ward is not Froch or Kessler or Chavez fan support wise, can only draw okay in Oakland. If it's on GGG to make the offer, you better believe it won't be in Oakland cause he's the A-side then.fergusg wrote:Apart from making assumptions that bear no commercial correlation to the revenue that could be generated from two top-ten pound-for-pounders competing against each other… If Tom Loeffler always believed that a bout between Golovkin & Ward wasn’t viable from a business perspective, then why did Team GGG choose to repeatedly dine out on Ward's name during post-fight interviews, if there was never any intention whatsoever to stage a fight between these two men?Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Ward would come expensive, when his last tuneup fetched him 2x more than GGG's career high. Are you seriously suggesting that the onus is on the man perceived as the “better” fighter to chase his opposition? Therefore, contenders shouldn’t have to lift a finger to receive title opportunities, because champions should be offering them big money to entice them to share the ring? Seriously!?! Is that what you’re honestly suggesting?Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:Since he insists he's the A-side, it's on him to make the offer, which he never has nor has he approached Loeffler.I only read that Virgil Hunter preferred his charge to take a couple of tune-up’s to rid Ward of any ring-rust… I also saw the YouTube video of the interview itself... it seems that most reliable sources claim that Andre Ward and his team sent a letter to HBO requesting a bout between himself and GGG.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:In fact, according to his trainer, Ward had nothing to do with any callout emailed to HBO, and wouldn't be ready for such a fight without a couple of tuneups, so 2016 at best.
Do you have any sources? There isn’t ample evidence and your article doesn’t supply a compelling argument. All it proves is that Golovkin was technically a weight-drained small super-middleweight during the 30 & 7 day pre-fight weigh in to monitor responsible weight-loss.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:According to big Floyd fan Kevin Iole, there's "ample evidence" GGG could make 154:

The fact that Golovkin immediately balloons from 160lbs to 173lbs in the 24-hours prior to the fight provides compelling evidence that he’s a bigger than average middleweight.
Perhaps the jouranlist that you've quoted doesn't actually appreciate the rules of boxing?
The journalist is actually daring to consider a Mayweather-Golovkin bout, when the HBO-Showtime issue completely rules out the possibility of such a fight, appears to illustrate the naivety of the man who wrote the article.
When JMM called out Floyd and Floyd accepted the challenge, did he say "send me an offer Juan"? See, with guys like Froch, Chavez there's no question who makes the offer. That's cause they're the A-side.
"Virgil Hunter That's not Andre Ward style sending emails he doesn't even know of that": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDgXh1Uqa-8
Yeah he drained himself 30 days before the fight lol. Hey thicko, you know some fighters will not strip down for the UNOFFICIAL weigh in? That's 5lbs there min. And again dumbo, many super welters are 170+ fight night, and most are above 165/161 30/5 days prior. And lol at the most clueless (and 2nd most tedious) boxrec troll calling Iole clueless. This is Floyd Mayweather we're talking about. It's not Jermall Charlo or Ishe Smith. When Floyd comes calling, arrangements are made.

Khan would pose a few problems, I have no doubt about that, but he doesn't have neither the all round game nor in ring intelligence to beat the current Mayweather despite arguably having the physical tools.

Ike Ibeabuchi would. I heard he's out of jail and ready for a few tune-up fights before he beats both Klitschkos at the same time.
