I had this one!!! I started buying sometime around 1986 I think. Tyson was hot. The first issue I read was at the library & it was a preview of Cooney Spinks. Great times!

I haven't seen an issue in awhile. I bought that, KO, & something else with really glossy heavy pages. Are there many boxing magazines around today?

I think that copy was the first ever I bought from The Ring back in '88 or '89, I believe.

Am not sure, but when I started out as a fan I bought an equal number of KO Magazine's along with RING.

Same here. I'd get every available boxing mag I could. KO, Ring, Boxing Illus. and there was one more publication that I can't remember...

The one with Tyson on the cover wearing just his protector. There was a letter printed in the next issue moaning how it showed his pubic hair. It would have been around August 86. Read it from cover to cover several times.

Yeah I wondered into my local convenient store when I was 12 years old and picked it up and just decided to get it. I wasn't even that much into boxing then, but got more and more interested as time went on.

Love the fact that the classic Witherspoon-Tubbs fight has the title on it "Special Dream Fights Issue".

I remember that issue.

I got that one as well Carlos, I bought it on Barnsley and then we jumped on a bus to Sheffield, there was a piece in the magazine about the Ingle gym and Herol Graham - we bumped into Herol in the Sheaf Market, he'd got a jeweller's in there.

I don't even remember the contents of that issue, other than obviously the cover story. I had all my ring and KO magazine issues from 1986 up until about 1997 in a chest at the parents house, then one day after I moved out, mom threw them all away figuring that it was just junk.

I don't really remember buying it, but I read it in the 80s.

In the early 90s a mate of mine rented a shop that used to be lived in by the ex coach of the local rugby team. He was a boxing nut by all accounts but had left in a bit of a rush. So I inherited a huge box full of 60s and 70s Ring mags.
