Can Gerald Washington become a contender?

Post by Michael bennt »

I think he is underrated and gets a lot criticism cause he turned pro late after a football career, he has a decent resume so far, he is only getting better and seems very hungry to succeed. Thoughts?

He looked really bad against very limited Nagy Aguilera, whom Breazeal beat easily.

With skillful matchmaking, he might be capable of being managed to a top 15 ranking before he retires, if that's what you're asking.

If there was ever a prospect that needed to realize that ROUND is not a shape for a boxer.
It is Gerald.

Yes but don't write him off cause of that, remember wilder was dropped by that fat out of shape journeyman and now he is fighting for the WBC

It's amazing how people are so quick to write him off after the Nagy fight. Every current Heavyweight has struggled in one fight or another and have learned from it. Glazkov should of lost to Malik Scott. Bryant Jennings got dropped by Tupou. Fury got dropped by Cunningham. Wilder got dropped. Breazeale has struggled on quite a few fights. I'm not worried he has the skills and athleticism to make a name for himself in the division.

Yes fighters get written of now after one bad performance, which is wrong but that's boxing fans and writers today, I think Washington will come good and become a contender and prove them all wrong

Getting dropped is hardly a shaming experience, if anything its something all young lads need to experience.

I think your getting UK media, and UK fans mixed up.

I agree with that, it tests your metal a bit I think getting up after a heavy knockdown. I've known many a braggart getting dropped, then not hearing from them again at the gym, which is always a quite nice humbling experience for them
