So that leaves Fury... young, unbeaten, has proved himself far more than Wilder has, is taller and bigger than Klitschko, and can both box and slug it out... not to mention he can switch stances and boxes wonderfully in both... for all the criticisms out there about him when one really looks at the rest of the field, who can not say that Fury poses the best chance? I think it goes without saying, as young as he is and improving all the time, that even if he couldnt beat Klitschko, its a lock that he would be heavyweight champion one day.
I disagree about Povetkin. I don't think he gave Wlad a test at all. Even Maruisz Wach did better against Wlad than Povetkin did. Wach landed big right hand and hurt Wlad in the fifth round, which Povetkin didn't even come close to. Wach also went full 12 rounds without being knocked down, unlike Povetkin.

As for Fury - here I agree with you. I think his size, his workrate, stamina and ability to switch stances can give Wlad problems.

Wlad has proven over and over that he does really well against and equally tall fighter.

Mismatch.

Wladimir wins comfortably on points, or stops him late.

It will be a lucrative fight for both.

Fury could make a massive payday with a UK PPV.

Fury gives Wlad problems for 3 or 4 rounds with his reach and workrate (possibly even his ability to switch stance, which Wlad will not have seen for a very long time) then gets taken out by either Wlad's left hook or straight right. Look, I love Fury's style, in particular the sheer variety of punches he uses, his ability to throw combinations to head and body and the way he is able to switch between long-distance brawler, inside fighter and hands-up pressure fighter. However his defence is just not tight enough to deal with Wlad's arsenal of shots and he doesn't hit hard enough to keep Wlad nailed to the canvas; Wlad's chin has been criticised in the past, but in reality he is a man who will just keep on getting up unless you wipe him out with sheer power, and Fury is not a hard enough puncher although he has certainly improved his power in recent years. I would love to be proven wrong, though!

It is a head v heart argument for me. Heart as an Brit, thinks Fury through his size, body punching, adaptability and his heart. Head says Wladimir because of his superior experience, technical ability and power. Plus while Wladimir has been down 11 times and stopped three times, they all been against bigger punchers than who have dropped Fury.

Ross Purrity who was the first guy to stop Wladimir had 27 knockouts in his 31 wins. Corrie Sanders had 31 knockouts in 42 wins, he was very fast handed and could pack some decent whack when fully fit and he had his mind the job. Lamon Brewster the last man to defeat and stop Wladimir finished with 32 knockouts in 38. Plus Sam Peter in the early to mid 200s was meant to have been a monster too.

As for Fury he was dropped by Neven Pajikic for the Commonwealth title and Pajikic was 16-0 with five knockouts. And Steve Cunningham is a former Cruiserweight champion with 10 knockouts in 24. If those blokes have put Fury over then what is going to happen when Wladimir whose has scored 53 knockouts in 63 victories going to happen when he connects. Fury will go over. If he survives the ten count as I believe Fury will get up because the bloke has a massive heart on him. Wladimir (if the clock is in his favour) will finish him. Because Wladimir Klitschko is in my eyes one of the best finishers around.

Thank you very much. I have played this fight about three or times in my head recently using the stats of both men and the having watched both of them fight. And I have pretty much come to the conclusion Wladimir stops Fury, but I am not sure when he does.

Fury is pretty decent ,

but Wlads footwork is on another planet compared to ay other active heavyweight, the same could also be said about his hands to.

David Haye (for all his faults) didn't have the speed of hand or foot to be able to show the best of himself, I really dont think Tyson can test Wlad for long.

Wlad would take his jab away, and pound him with the right cross every now and then, Fury would go down hard the first time one caught him, maybe get up a couple of times on the way to a right mauling, it would be one sided, and over before the second half of the fight. Fury just isn't very good, and Wlad is by far the best of the current crop by a light year.

Unreal.I don't think you could pay 10.5 million Americans to watch him.

Do you think your opinion about Wladimir Klitschko would change was perceived as an "adopted" American fighter that had fought in Texas 49 times, competed in 26 world heavyweight championship fights (winning 24 of them) and had only just made his 17th consecutive successful defence of his unified title. :-?
No i do not think it would matter.I think for the majority of his fights he is just boring.
Only the die hard fans in the U.S. will watch him.He is robotic at times.
As a die hard fan I find it hard to watch him sometimes myself.
But being a foreigner does not have anything to do with it.Pacqiao Golvokin Marquez all have huge
American followings.Nationalistic pride is one thing.Boring is another.

fergusg wrote:Klitschko is perceived as boring, because he finds a way to dominate his opponents in the most efficient manner that minimises risk. He also fights in Germany, which means that a lot of his fights aren’t televised to a US audience during prime-time viewing.

I do empathise with Wladimir’s critics, but it’s almost impossible to deny to how ruthlessly effective his approach has become… and I feel that his victory over Pulev, which signified the start of his contract with HBO, will result in him becoming a much more exciting fighter in the short-term.

By the way, one of the differences between Klitschko and the likes of Pacquiao, Golovkin and Marquez… is the fact that the Ukrainian usually competes in Europe against non-US fighters, rather than against American fighters on their home turf.
Ferg.My friend I do not think the Pulev fight is going to be a new and exciting way that Wlad fights.
He clinches and hugs as much as Ruiz.Once he is tagged again he will either go back to
being his boring self or get ktfo.
Just a difference of opinion but all is good. :TU:

Wlad was fun to watch last time out......because he had nothing to worry about. Trust me he will be holding and hugging and throwing fighters down in no time.
