Why did he need advice? Remember he stated himself Ronnie was just a vaseline/cut man. So really he was given too much advice

Whatever anyone thinks, truth is you don't know the lad or how he reacts to instructions. Not every trainer/fighter relationship is like Barker/Simms you know. You know what, maybe this is as good as CEJ gets, and that's it.
And if another person says he should go to Adam Booth...![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

The crazy thing is despite the chaos in Eubanks corner and his shockingly poor technique (back foot going forward after a terrible lunging uppercut), he was still very competitive. Just imagine what he could do with a trainer who he listens to and improving his technique? I'm interested to see where he goes from here.

All I can think of is Roach for him. I'm sure he'll tell Senior where to get off too if he interferes.
Re: Eubanks corner and advice (or lack of)
yeah watching the fight i genuinely feel Eubank has alot of talent which could easily be wasted if he doesnt get rid of the team he currently has.
Re: Eubanks corner and advice (or lack of)
Anyone else notice him telling Ronnie to, "Stop Talking". To which he replied, "Dont tell me to stop talking". Eubank Jr came across as a spoilt brat then.
Re: Eubanks corner and advice (or lack of)
A boxers corner ought not to be a drama, it should be a place where everyone knows their role and there should be trust that the corner is competent and up to the job. Childish squabbling is surely a real sign of tension, stupidity and ego, pathetic really.

Ego is the right word, palooka. To me, the 1st half of the fight seemed to be a pure ego trip for the Eubanks - it was like they wanted to prove Jr was so special that he didn't need any corner advice at all. It was only when it became obvious that he'd given away pretty much all of the first 6 rounds that they started to work a bit more like a proper corner (although obviously nowhere near a functional one).palooka wrote:A boxers corner ought not to be a drama, it should be a place where everyone knows their role and there should be trust that the corner is competent and up to the job. Hopefully they'll treat his future fights more seriously; Eubank Sr should know better than anyone what a dangerous sport boxing is. He certainly shouldn't be treating his son's career like a game.

Re: Eubanks corner and advice (or lack of)
Eubank Sr was giving him advice throughout and Jr. was listening. I think the problem was that he spent a bit too much time coming to terms with the southpaw stance of Saunders in the early rounds. I didn't think it was much of a contest when Eubank actually started applying the pressure. His other problem was lack of a jab. He's all power punches, a lot like his dad and a bit like a much more aggressive Haye. Saunders also deserves credit for coming through it to be fair.
Re: Eubanks corner and advice (or lack of)
I think that Eubank Jnr was thrown because Saunders was boxing against him rather than allowing him his strengths. Jnr has really faced people who didn't have the stylistic/defensive/footwork options to throw Jnr out of his stride. He seemed miffed that Saunders nullified him and seemed surprised that Saunders didn't fold with the first punch landed. Having self belief must be wonderful and a great advantage but it has to be rooted in reality. Eubank Jnr can come back better from this but ought to have the understanding that others may know more about boxing and tactics than he or his dad does.

I think Eubank actually grew in confidence as the fight went on and showed less respect for BJS as the fight progressed.palooka wrote:I think that Eubank Jnr was thrown because Saunders was boxing against him rather than allowing him his strengths. I think you maybe right Liam; I also think the tension got to Eubank more than the more experienced Saunders, Chris Jnr about froze in the early rounds.liamlion wrote:I think Eubank actually grew in confidence as the fight went on and showed less respect for BJS as the fight progressed.palooka wrote:I think that Eubank Jnr was thrown because Saunders was boxing against him rather than allowing him his strengths. Eubank looked heavy legged early on and basically went for broke after half-way and had the engine to keep steaming forward. He definitely needs refining and work on his jab. Perhaps he really believed his own hype that he was some sort of massive murderous puncher?
Such a great fight though.

It is all about smoke and mirrors, creating the image of a beast. To be fair it worked up until Saturday night. Twitter and boxers Facebook pages were full of 'fans' saying this was an easy fight for Eubank and he was going on to world domination. 'Not needing to give advice' was part of that. Sadly for them, these idiots forgot to win the fight, because whilst they were posturing, Billy Joe was sweeping the first five or six rounds with wonderful skills

I really really enjoyed the fight and build up. As soon as they started playing that Eubank promo and then Chris Jr. was on his way out I, along with everyone else I think, was seriously excited for the fight.
