Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
It will be in Montreal or Quebec city, the exact date still has to be schedule but the fight is on. Look like Stevenson is the only one who lose money in the operation... Good fight though.

Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
Does Pascal actually stands a chance to win it? Probably not. Pascal got dominated by Hopkins who actually looked like a school girl against Kovalev. The only reason that it might be a more exciting fight then the Kovalev-Hopkins one, is that Pascal will be willing to exchange punches with Kovalev....probably not for long, but still! Shold be a good one....if Pascal doesn't get hurt - again!

Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
Odds going to points will be super slim!!! That usually means fireworks. This will be good viewing
Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
Pascal's only shot is to hope to bait Kovalev and land a roundhouse right. He's got a puncher's chance. Kovalev has proven to be pretty smart though, so I doubt he'd fall victim to it.Bruins04 wrote:Does Pascal actually stands a chance to win it? Probably not. Good fight. I favor Kovalev but Pascal's mix of speed and power make him dangerous.

Pascal beat Dawson, then Hopkins beat Pascal. Does Dawson stand a chance against Hopkins? Probably not.Bruins04 wrote:Does Pascal actually stands a chance to win it? Probably not. Pascal got dominated by Hopkins who actually looked like a school girl against Kovalev.

Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
Kovalev dominated the second best available option. Pascal is the new second best option in the division. I am very pleased with this matchmaking.
Hopefully Stevenson - Kovalev comes off in 2015, since they would then have quite a ton of key wins between them. If it doesn't happen soon, the 37-year-old Stevenson may age out of his prime before it happens. Plus, I don't think either of them are rich enough to justify dodging the superfight indefinitely. They should both be eager to get that super payday now that it's pretty ripe.

Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
So why has Stevenson ducked Kovalev and has now let Hopkins and his biggest payday in Pascal slip away? I think he's more than eager to get paid for little risk, and even then he got clocked by Fonfara. The only thing eager about Stevenson is his willingness to hand his career over to Haymon.

Stevenson is a pussy. He knows Kovalev would knock him out so he tucked tail and ran to Haymon knowing that in so doing it would prevent that fight from ever happening. Superman my ass.....SuperPussy more like it. I am so disgusted this punk is Canadian. At least Pascal has enough balls to take on Kovalev.Blodhemn wrote:So why has Stevenson ducked Kovalev and has now let Hopkins and his biggest payday in Pascal slip away? Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
After the Pascal fight, Kovalev will have to do an IBF mandatory. The other two mandatories will probably also want to get a fight, so Stevenson/Haymon will have to be very cooperative to get Kovalev fight.Lackeos wrote:Kovalev dominated the second best available option. Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
Kovalev has been a very high risk, low reward proposition all of this time. It is only recently with the Hopkins win, the acquisition of two new title belts, and additionally with a prospective Pascal win, that the reward side of that equation is becoming much more favorable. If I was Stevenson, I would definitely rather fight Kovalev in 2015 for $1.1 million or whatever instead of fighting him in 2013 for $300k or whatever.Baby Face Finster wrote:Stevenson is a pussy. people will be surprised at how easy Kovalev wipes pascal out, it will not go past 6 rounds
Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
Has Pascal been down before?
Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
In the Hopkins rematch, he was tired/hurt and went down. It wasn't called a knockdown but it probably should've been from what I remember. He's got a good beard/heart/survival instincts that's for sure. If he fatigues against Kovalev, I'm cringing for him already.
Stevenson was going to get 1-2 million for Kovalev and then he said the fight was worth much more than that when he bailed. The irony is he'll most likely have to accept a smaller percentage of the purse than he would've received back then. That is, if he ever accepts the fight at all.Lackeos wrote: Kovalev has been a very high risk, low reward proposition all of this time. Probably not at all. He was unwilling to exchange with Bute, ran all night. He will do the same here, will stay outside, try to outbox Kovalev.Bruins04 wrote:Does Pascal actually stands a chance to win it? Probably not. Pascal is tough, but not tough enough or defensively adept enough to get past 8 rounds with Kovalev.

Exactly. Pavlik beat Taylor twice, once by KO. Hopkins lost against Taylor twice. Hopkins doesn't stand a chance against Pavlik... or?Lackeos wrote:Pascal beat Dawson, then Hopkins beat Pascal. In Pavlik example, weights were a major factor. He KO'ed Taylor at 160 and got UD at 164. He was schooled by Hopkins at 170 where his power was not a major factor anymore which made his style significantly less effective.

Your spot on about Pavlik and him fighting at higher weights.ikorolev wrote:In Pavlik example, weights were a major factor. He KO'ed Taylor at 160 and got UD at 164. He was schooled by Hopkins at 170 where his power was not a major factor anymore which made his style significantly less effective.

Yes.crusader wrote:Has Pascal been down before?
I remember he was hurt twice by Omar Pittman in a televised fight when he was an up-and-comer. One of the two times should have been called a knockdown but wasn't.

Re: Interbox confirm Pascal-Kovalev for January
I think Pascal is a harder fight for Kovalev than Stevenson. Stevenson has one punch KO power which makes him dangerous but Pascal is a more complete consistent fighter. This will be a great fight while it lasts.

stevenson can still fight
1. chilemba
2. bute
3. edwin rodriguez

... or he can have his a$$ kicked by Beterbiev, as they are promoted by the same person.
