Wow, if it was 153 then it definitely makes sense to move up. That's very big for a 135er and probably close to average for guys at 140.
Still a bummer that it leaves the division completely cleaned out, though. I guess Bey/Shafikov will be a solid enough fight if it happens.
Terrence Crawford at 140
Re: Terrence Crawford at 140
I'm talking about Crawford's weight + reach/frame. He'll be bigger than most of the established fighters at 140.
Eh, 135 really isn't an interesting division. The talent level is thin. 140 is deeper and there's more recognition to go along with it.jujigatame wrote:Wow, if it was 153 then it definitely makes sense to move up. That's very big for a 135er and probably close to average for guys at 140.

Re: Terrence Crawford at 140
I think he'll do very well at 140. And even though some may not be wowed by his style because it lacks the "flash" that they may be looking for, he's so good technically that he will be extremely hard to beat. He shows decent power and good footwork and also has a long reach for his size.
Im confident as was stated earlier that he's moving up because he can no longer make 135. I honestly didn't have much interest in seeing him fight Figueroa because I was less than impressed seeing him go to hell and back with jerry belmontes. I think tc would have made that fight look easy. Now that I think about it, isn't omar talking of moving up as well?

Figueroa is supposefly moving up. Aside from yoursefl, there isn''t a person in the world who wants to watch him fight bey or even worse richard abril.jujigatame wrote:I actually like seeing a division have a dominant champ and would have preferred he try unifying with Figueroa or Bey rather than moving up, but I understand why he's doing it. Money talks, after all.
Crawford/Vargas is definitely the fight to make.
This is his job, he has a right to make money. He isn't going to make anything against the guys at 135.

That's exactly what I said. Money talks. He will make more significantly more money at 140.

Re: Terrence Crawford at 140
I think he does well at 140 and I think he can beat Pacquiao at 140. It seems like the whole event was a Pacquiao set up, first HBO showed me replay of Pacquiao vs Algeri then showed me Crawford beating Pacquiao's sparring partner.diddy wrote:How does he fare up a division? He's apparently vacating his titles at 135 to move up. He's a helluva fighter but I'm not certain how he does facing bigger guys. Guys like Garcia, Matthysse, Provo, Algieri, Broner, Herrera, Peterson. Way, way different league from lightweight. He did beat Danny in the amateurs so no reason he cant conquer 140 as well it will just be a helluva lot more difficult for him. Lampley seems to think he may be on Manny's radar soon. Now that would be super interesting.
