Ruiz v Liakhovich - thoughts?

Post by Gnome »

People say Liakhovich is massively shot, but his last two losses were to Jennings and Wilder who - since their wins over the White Wolf - have moved into the top 10 and emerged as genuine top contenders (Wilder knocking out the fancied Malik Scott also in one round, Jennings dealing with the undefeated Szpilka).

The quiestion then is: is Liakhovich THAT shot? Do these losses actually mean that much, and will he provide Ruiz with a good challenge - or have a decent chance of winning?

And who is Ruiz's best win so far?

Ruiz will stop Liakovich inside 3 rounds. Andy might be fat but he's also very talented, fast and explosive.

Lyakhovich is very shot and it's a crime to put him in with a big puncher like Ruiz.

He's been brutally KOed too many times. I fear for his health.

Ruiz's camp is just trying to put names on his resume.I also think Lyakovich needs to stay away
from heavy punchers.

Garbage fight. Liakhovich is shot to pieces and has been for years.

Andy Ruiz has huge potential in that he has knockout power, fast hands and a good chin - a combination found in very few heavyweights these days.

Unfortunately he is also obese - a situation that seemed to be improving, as he lost more than 50lb in his first two years as a pro. However, his weight seemed to stall at around 250lb and in between his last two fights he put on 22lb in just five months. This is clearly a guy who needs a dietitian and to stay active between fights. He looks very overweight at 246lb and should probably be fighting at nearer 220lb.

I think Ruiz wins this one by KO in the early to middle rounds.

The Liakhovich who was blown away by Wilder, complete with a trembling leg reminiscent of Ingo, shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a prize ring.
The guy is being brought in as cannon fodder.

Yeah I don't want to see Liakhovich (or any boxer) get seriously hurt like that ever again.
Needs to call it career.
I hope this fight never happens.

I'm really not all that high on Ruiz. Everyone should have reservations about the potential of a bloated Mexican heavyweight, even one that has been given the seal of approval by TR and Roach.
But he still should blow away the former alphabet champ within 3 rounds.

Lyakhovich IS massively shot. I just checked my calendar, and it said that the year is not currently 2006. So yeah, he'd get sparked, because 2014 is not 2006.

Remember when people criticized Arreola for being overweight?

When you see Ruiz, Arreola looks like a dietologist compared to him.

Ruiz came into his last fight at 273. That's disgusting.

Lyakhovich is so shot, that if he was really shot, you couldn't tell that he'd been shot! he's that shot! Man that guy is shot! So should KO Ruiz inside 3 rounds.

Liakhovich and Brewster ruined each other and neither was the same since. When Sugar Nikolay Valuev boxed him 12-0 he should have called it quits. RUIZ KO 1 by 1st punch landed.

I think Fatty Ruiz is going to be found out sooner or later. If Liakhovich can move about and bring him into the sixth round, Ruiz could be in some trouble.

That said, I am not sure Liakhovich won't get caught before then.

Anyone know what weight Ruiz is at the moment?

In the last one he looked like a giant fkn space hopper, 272lb. I cant see him going down anywhere near an appropriate athlete weight.

Opening odds have the usually portly Ruiz listed as a whopping 33-1 favorite over the former alphabet champ.
That's probably being generous to Liakhovich, who will be hard pressed to make it through 3 rounds.

As one sided as those odds are, it's still not close to the line on Joshua vs. Johnson. The young Brit gold medalist is holding as an 80-1 favorite over Johnson, who has never been stopped.
That figures to change on Jan. 30.
