Stephen Smith v Liam Walsh
Stephen Smith v Liam Walsh
Bit of discussion about this last night on the RBR
It seems Swifty is close to a WBC World title fight after matchroom have fed him Argie's since he switched promotional companies.
Walsh looked good last night against a very game Sykes 28 now really want to see him kick on to the next level after being so inactive. He is a real good all round fighter.
Unlikely these two will fight unless Walsh joins Matchroom even though it seems Swifty is further ahead I don't think there is much between these two at all.
Who do others think ?

A bout between the 2 would be a marvellous match up Walsh looked so assured the other night and has really refined his method of boxing, he is precise and hits hard and fast. I've not seen Smith since the Buckland bout but he is another excellent punch picker. I'd not be able to pick a winner and it'd be a bout I'd definitely watch.

Cracking bout but neither should be thinking about the WBC title, Miura is a bit of a monster.
Of the two I'll go with the more proven Smith, but only by a whisker.

Re: Stephen Smith v Liam Walsh
Great fight, tough call. I'd go for Walsh, but not by much. Reckon he's had the harder run of fights (not overly familiar with Smith's last 3, but I think it's a reasonable statement). Walsh looks like he has a size advantage @ SFW, and I was surprised to see him back at 130 tbh - so that could work either way. Can't forget Smith looking pretty average against Simpson twice, but in fairness that was a peak Simpson.
...so yeah, it's a tough call, but one I'd like to see. Hopefully Walsh can keep active now, he seems to spend a lot of time beating boxers I'm backing. He's also gradually growing on me now that I can hear the commentary over the 'farmy army' on occasion too.

I like Stephen, after his awesome KO of Buckland.
But then I sway back to the all-rounded skills of Walsh.
Good fight !

I sat for a few minutes before deciding with Walsh,to find out its 23-23 in the poll so far, really, really tough fight to call,i can change my mind and make a case for both men but i think Liam's height and range might just edge Stephen
Actually........Fights like this should happen constantly in boxing

Really enjoyed Kurgan's interview with the Walsh brothers before Liam's fight, they came across really well.
Liam lives and breathes Boxing apparently which surprised me,I'd always thought they all just played at it.

That was my impression too before the interview but the other 2 brothers were saying that Liam does nothing else and thinks of nothing else except BoxingBandit wrote:They can't live an breath it that much with all the fights they turned downrpms wrote:Really enjoyed Kurgan's interview with the Walsh brothers before Liam's fight, they came across really well.

Did Liam and his brothers smash your bird or something? Seems like you have a bit of a problem with them.Bandit wrote:Who cares anyway Smith batters Walsh if they fight don't think it will he already turned it when Smith was at fish eyesrpms wrote:That was my impression too before the interview but the other 2 brothers were saying that Liam does nothing else and thinks of nothing else except BoxingBandit wrote: They can't live an breath it that much with all the fights they turned down
