Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
What a fight! Who would win?
Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
If Crawford moves and uses reach advantage, he wins pretty comfortably.

Crawford is a star in the making. At least that's what HBO hopes. Why else televise last night's fight between 2 obscure fighters unless they see something in Crawford and are eager to showcase him at a relatively early stage.
Has far too many overall skills for the more limited Matthysse, and while the bout certainly is a dangerous one, the speedy Crawford should clearly outbox the Argentine and cop a comfortable decision.
I don't see the bout, however, taking place for quite a while. Needs a lengthy buildup.

i dont think crawford needs a warm up hes damn grown out of lightweight and he wouldnt be a small jw either. maybe not toss him with a bull like mattyse right off the bat........but a top tier jw would be ok
Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
Until TR and Goldenboy make up and start doing business, it is not even worth discussing.

IF the cold war is over, how many TR vs GB fights have been made since the truce?fergusg wrote:Wrong!Badhusker wrote:Until TR and Goldenboy make up and start doing business, it is not even worth discussing.
The proverbial "Cold War" between Top Rank & Golden Boy is over.
The issue is Al Haymon versus HBO/Top Rank.
Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
Crawford needs to grow into the div. some before taking on a relentless guy like Matthysse. Lucas comes into the ring rather large and he would definitely be bigger than Crawford on fight night. Crawford will probably get a straight shot @ Algieri for the WBO and he'll win that fight.
Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
Still thinking over this matchup. ^
I will say Crawford looked the business against Beltran, his boxing style is improving so well.
It's maturity level is beautiful, he doesn't rush things and is patient but not to the point of boring.
Very impressed.

When I picked Crawford by decision, I wasn't expecting Crawford to be winning poll 15 to 3 lol. I think Crawford would win, but don't think he's that much of a favorite. Wasn't long ago more than half of this forum was calling Mattysse one of the baddest dudes on the planet, now he's a huge underdog against a guy who's barely fought at 140.. CRAZY!!

Crawford could be something big in the making, Has the style to handle the POWER that Matthysse posses, Crawford doesn't need to be rushed though that'll bring down any young fighter's rise to greatness.

Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
It's amazing how the hbo hype machine has everyone here busting nuts over a very improven fighter. Who has one just one good win over a much smaller 33 yr old who hadn't fought in over a yr yet was still beating crawford prior to being stopped
Lil asss Gamboa shook Crawford up nicely now just imagine what Lucas would do to him.
Crawford isn't Floyd he gets tagged quite often and against matthysse that would spell good night.
Matthysse by brutal stoppage.

Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
Crawford is very good and I suspect he'll do very well at 140, though he hasn't impressed me quite to the point where I think he'll dominate the division. I'd favor him over Matthysse as I think his skill and greater speed would be enough to largely offset LM's power, and I also think he's tough enough to handle himself in the trenches if it goes there.
This is all true, which makes me wonder why so many seem to think it's the FOTY (the other dude's comment about the HBO hype machine may be particularly relevant here). Good fight, but Gamboa seemed to be bouncing off the canvas for most of it and there was little ebb and flow.verballistic wrote:

Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
Comparing matthysse to gamboa is somewhat reckless. Lucas doesn't have anywhere near the hand speed or boxing ability that gamboa has. once Terrence gets 2 or 3 fights under his belt I don't think ANYONE at 140 will be able to beat him. We give some much credit to lomachenko's amateur career, and rightfully so. Lets not forget that Crawford beat both mikey Garcia and danny Garcia in the amateurs. Tc is not a fluke.kidbazooka1 wrote:It's amazing how the hbo hype machine has everyone here busting nuts over a very improven fighter. Man, you really hate this guy dont you? Did he rape your sister or something?![]()
You must have missed the Gamboa fight.![]()

You also ignore the fact that Crawford has been steadily improving since his ESPN days, but then it sounds like you dont really watch his fights too closely (if at all).
Is Crawford good yes but the guy like I mentioned has only one good win against a much smaller older guy.
But hey this seems to be the era where a guy needs only one decent win to start praising him as the next big thing in boxing.

How much longer will we see Mayweather and Pacquiao? Two years at the most, maybe less.
Crawford looks like he may be the goods and of course HBO is biting at the bit to showcase him as the next big thing.
Maybe he will be, maybe he won't, but with so few potential superstars on the horizon, a network would be remiss to ignore him and fail to hype.
Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
Matthysse is underrated. The guy is relentless. Lucas by KO.
Re: Crawford vs Matthysse, who wins?
Crawford extremely overrated here, he's never fought a guy like matthysse, someone who hits pretty hard and able to take a big punch.. Gamboa somehow managed to hurt crawford during that fight .. Surely at. 140 a 158lbs rehydrated Matthysse would break crawford's body
