Who should Eubank Jr fight next?

Post by Simon Lock »

Should he go after another higher-ranked opponent, or concentrate on getting back to winning ways against someone easier?

What do you guys think about Matthew Macklin or John Ryder as potential opponents?

I think it was a loss that is not at all damaging and he actually has momentum now and should build from it.

I agree - it would be a great shame if he went back to being involved in 80/20 fights against obscure imports.

It would be good if he could build on his current profile with another "name" domestic boxer - Macklin would be a good shout, as it would be entertaining and I would fancy Eubank to win.

Not sure what the incentive would be for Macklin (unless he is particularly well paid) although he hasn't got that many options available to him at the moment - maybe they could come up with some spurious Silver title fight that would keep the winner in line for a shot at a more serious title ?

John Ryder would be a tough fight for him, not sure that would make sense for his next fight

John Ryder or Nick Blackwell.

Ryder or Blackwell would be good. Probably Blackwell right now.

Ryder wouldn't be the best idea for Eubank Jnr right now, I think Ryder beats him. The Blackwell fight interests me the most, tough one to call.

Whomever. I think that the best option for him is to get his next fight sanctioned for the Lonsdale Belt. Saunders will have to drop it when he fights for a World Title. And should Chris win that British Title, he could use his three defenses as an education before he moves up.

Anthony Fitzgerald for me. Both coming off losses.
It would be a nicer builder toward a match in Ireland against Spike O'Sullivan.

Hi pal why would saunders have to drop the Lonsdale belt if he he fights for a world title but Paul smith hasn't ?

The best fight for him would be buglioni, who has called out Eubank jr, it would be a big seller, grudge match and Eubank jr would stop him, they should of made that fight before Billie joe,he would have still been unbeaten and more experienced for a Billie joe fight, I had him winning by 1 round against Billie Joe, but could not argue it the other way, it was a close fight, with more experience, i think Eubank jr would have won clear cut, you can't go into such a fight, without any big fights behind you.

Spike O Sullivan got to be to keep him up there? Eubank hasn't beat or won anything yet so needs to stay in the mix really with a biggish win starting with Spike O Sullivan. I doubt this will happen though and he will be fighting bums again for the foreseeable future.

Anthony Ogogo is another option,I don't think he's ready for Eubank just yet as hes coming back from an injury I think?I think the Spike and Etches fights are better at this moment in time but Ogogo needs to market himself more and this might be a better option than making weird appearances on The Apprentice.

Only have to drop the belt if you win the title and I'm not sure that really applies, Butler's still British champion after winning a world title, although it was at a different weight. He will have to vacate though because Blackwell's mandatory for some reason.

10 rounds with Nathan King at 12 sts. This would ensure he done 10 hard rounds without getting into any danger himself and a realisation that he doesn't have 1 punch knockout power. Great learning fight for him.

depending on what level he wants to come back at I'd throw Pat Nielsen, Macklin, Proksa, Blandamura, Mehdi Bouadla, Dom Spada, Yebes, Fitzgerald and Kerry Hopes names at him.
Differing levels of names on the European circuit...
