Matt Christie Boxing News
Matt Christie Boxing News
A number of years ago I criticised Matt Christie for his writing style, but I've just got round to reading his report of the Cleverley v Bellew bill, and I thought it was first class, very accurate, straight to the point, with a wee touch of humour . I' m no expert but credit where credits due, a big improvement, and I' ve enjoyed all his recent reports.

I like the way Christie has a touch of humour in his reports. I also think the new guy, Paul Wheeler, writes well.
Re: Matt Christie Boxing News
Matt's got a fairly original style for sure....sometimes he goes a bit adjective crazy and he often starts a story by expressing a view and in a fairly complicated, roundabout style. In his early days, you were kind of left waiting for the news to start.
But there is no faulting his enthusiasm or knowledge.
Think that he is a better feature writer where you have got more space and the freedom to expand on a theme and be colourful than a straight news reporter; but some of his fight reports are now much improved as well.
Interesting editorial decision in BN this week BTW.....Saunders v Eubank the front cover piece and headline report, Fury-Chisora the nominal headliner, definitely bumped down the list.
But there is no faulting his enthusiasm or knowledge.

I personally found his work virtually unreadable during his early days, his work often came across like something that Dickens would have choked on,far too many tangents and random superlatives for my liking, some of his fight reports read like a flyer for a 19th century Barnum show !Bodyshot3 wrote:Matt's got a fairly original style for sure....sometimes he goes a bit adjective crazy and he often starts a story by expressing a view and in a fairly complicated, roundabout style. Thankfully he seems to have settled down a lot more,it made BN quite hard work for a while though.

Matt is a very good writer and knows his stuff - when I used to buy BN, I would have read his stuff first and he did a great job developing the BN site. He's also good company and a top bloke.

He's always good value on the BN Podcast as well, has a dry deprecating humour & talks a lot of sense.
Re: Matt Christie Boxing News
I read a recent Boxing News after having cancelled my subscription earlier this year and I remember at the time being impressed by probably what was the very same report from Matt Christie. Certainly something he'd written.dalcumly wrote:A number of years ago I criticised Matt Christie for his writing style, but I've just got round to reading his report of the Cleverley v Bellew bill, and I thought it was first class, very accurate, straight to the point, with a wee touch of humour .
