I really hope he would return, although it does not seem realistic. But I believe he would have good chances. He's 43, hasn't fought for more than 2 years, but looks in good form, at least there's no belly visible. I'd be rooting for him like crasy.

Ofcourse, Stiverne is holding his belt - he'd beat him easy. I'm not sure how wise it would be to come back though, he's had his share of injuries. His performance against Chisora, even though he won every round with 1 arm, was poor, against a better fighter with such an injury he would find himself in hot water.

Vitali had a very good career, a couple championships, and left the sport with his brain still intact. Also he's still heavily involved in politics in Ukraine.
And as pointed out in an above post he is very injury prone.
I hope he doesn't come back. I wish fighters would just retire and not give in to the siren's song of the ring once they hang it up (aside from what Foreman did, of course).

If anyone can do it, of course Vitali certainly can. And he would probably be in the top 2 heavyweights again after just one comeback fight.
But I just don't think he should.
Him coming back would also interfere with Wlad's chance to retire with all major belts.

What's ironic in all this... is before retiring there was talk of him facing Valuev... and of course Valuev retired (unexpectedly) before Vitali did.... now that the two men are involved in Russian and Ukranian politics... the two men have been known to talk trash to one another in the press. Now THAT... would be a fight...

As for your original Q.... I believe he could... but it really depends on who...

His term as mayor of Kyiv is only until October 25th, 2015 since the Ukrainian Parliament scheduled local elections across the whole country to take place on October 25th, 2015.

Assuming that Klitschko runs again (and he most likely will) and wins the election on October 25th, 2015, he will be the mayor for a 4 year term counting from that date. By the time the term ends he would be 48 years old, so maybe he could pull a Foreman in 2019.

If he loses the election in 2015, I think there is a very good chance he could have a farewell fight, because he has said before that his last fight against Charr in Moscow wasn't really the way he wants to end his career. There's probably a good possibility that he fights one more time in his life in Kyiv as a retirement fight.

I do not think we will ever see Vitali fight again. At his age and the injuries he has had.
He will not risk it.

Vitali was clearly on the slide in his last few fights. If he came back with the extra rust and the extra age, I believe there would be fighters he could lose to.

Most people don't know that Vitaliy got a torn left shoulder ligament in the 3rd round of the Chisora fight, and fought most of that fight with his right hand. Which is why the fight looked like it was more difficult for him than it should have been.

Seeing Hopkins winning titles at 49 and talking about winning more at 50 will of give vitali great motivation to come back and beat george foremans record

That's exactly the problem, injuries.
I'm a big Vitali fan, and I think he's a top 20-25 heavyweight of all time. But what would be the point of him coming back?
He more than proved himself in the ring.

I doubt it.

Rigor-mortis was beginning to set in before the retired this time around: I dread to think what he'd be like in another 3 years, after over 4 years out.

Vitali looked awful in his last 2 fights in 2012. There's no way he'll be good enough to win a world title 5 years later.

No, you are not vitali fan. I'm very intersted to know who are these other 20-25 who could challenged vitali?
A list might help us ....FOR EVERY NAME byond the 5th I WILL GIVE YOU A FART OUT MY ASS
For heavens sake, relax man.
And yes, I am a Vitali fan and always have been. Who are you to say I'm not?? I followed he and his brother since they were prospects. You should read my posts.

I pulled the number 20-25 (of ALL TIME, not current) off the top of my head and meant it in a very good way...for all you know I have him at number 11. If you really want me to list my (subjective) top 25 heavyweights of all time just so you can pick it apart with your subjective opinion, I'll work on it in a separate thread. But given your mean spirited and disrespectful posts I probably won't waste my time.
You should really learn to respect the opinions of others, as most on the forum do.

he could, I think he and definitely his brother, would still dominate any of the top heavyweights in the world right now.

its just a question of if he needs to and if he wants to really, he's been one of the best champions in years, had dominating performances in the past. unless its a fight that he wanted then I just don't see it happening.
