Nigel Collins said "Bowe didn't duck anybody." Are you sure?

Post by scorpio83 »

Earlier today, Riddick "Big Daddy" Bowe, Ray "Boom Boom" Manciani and Prince Naseem Hamed were inducted into the 2015. On espn the newly elected Hall of Famer journalist Nigel Collins said that I disagree that "Bowe never duck anybody." I said to myself what is he talking about? Did Collins ever watched Bowe's infamous ducking on his Olympic conquer Lennox Lewis where Bowe dumped the WBC Heavyweight title into the trash can the same WBC belt that Tyson won his first heavyweight title and went to win 2 more titles to become the undisputed heavyweight champion. Yes, Bowe was great in the short year in his time, but he could have fought Lewis to take a risk to become one of the all-time great heavyweight outside of the Holyfield trilogy.

He didn't duck Lewis and he wasnt afraid. Jorge luiz gonzala brutally beat over and that was a bigger grudge.lewis at that time was too raw but sublimely talented circa 92-94.bowe just wanted more money fighting holyfield

Bowe was a great fighter but clearly ducked Lewis who bashed him in the Olympic final. . .

I think Bowe "Punished" Lewis for what he considered to be disrespect.

He "chose" to fight Holyfield instead of Lewis for practical considerations. Money.

Just the way the cookie crumbled

Lewis kept his health and his wits, while Bowe devolved....at there best Bowe is better, but as a career Lewis outshines him.

Partly because Bowe's best could almost be measured in nanoseconds. lol.

It's a good thing for Lewis that Bowe "Ducked" him at their mutual primes....as that would have taken some shine out of Lennox's rep.

Bowe had pretty bad defence for a top fighter. His offence was his defence and it worked with majority of his opponents who were KO'd before they could do anything anyway. Even Holy fought completely wrong fight the 1st time and lost, but you can bet Lewis would not try to trade with Bowe.

Everyone says Bowe was washed up when he met Golota, but (while Bowe was obviously out of shape) Golota was also all wrong for him. Lewis would fight similar (minus "special uppercuts" ;-)) and I would favour him over Bowe (prime, not only 250+ version).
