Unless something has changed with Johnson's chin I see a wide points decision to Joshua.

Yes. High on Joshua.

I see a British style stoppage
Re: will anthony joshua stop kevin johnson yes or no ?
Johnson sits on ropes, Joshua throws flurry of punches, couple land clean, ref jumps in, Eddie proclaims him an ATG, lists all the other heavies that couldn't stop Johnson, calls out Wlad, Fury and anyone else he knows is unrealistic.reggaereggae wrote:I see a British style stoppage
Re: will anthony joshua stop kevin johnson yes or no ?
Johnson spends a lot of time on the ropes and Joshua seems to be fairly aggressive when his opponents are in that position. I can see Johnson laying on the ropes doing virtually nothing offensively while Joshua unloads, and in that scenario a stoppage wouldn't surprise me even if Johnson doesn't seem particularly hurt.

I can't see Johnson getting stopped legitimately. Either they cheat a stoppage out of him or it doesn't happen.

KJ has never been stopped and could conceivably go the distance, but it won't be competitive. If he does survive it'll be because he fights ultra-defensively and offers nothing in return.

Re: will anthony joshua stop kevin johnson yes or no ?
I'm not going to claim that Johnson is in phenomenal shape, but he's been pretty consistent with his weight throughout his career and is always somewhere around 240lb. I've never seen his face not looking fat, I don't think it means anything. He has never been stopped and it's almost two months until the fight, so I think it's way too early to call him 'once durable', fat or faded.fergusg wrote:Look at Johnson's puffy bloated face for the promo for this fight... man, he's in terrible shape. So I reckon Joshua blows away a faded and fat version of a man that was once a very durable fighter!

Whatever KJ's purse is, i'm sure Matchroom could just buy Joshua a really nice heavy bag instead.

Johnson isn't easy to hit.

I say no, knowing what Johnson is like, but it would not surprise me if Joshua did spark him.

I've just looked at the pic with Joshua - looks like the same old Kevin Johnson to me - he's always got a chubby-looking face. It's possible he's put on a little weight which he may well lose before the fight, but I doubt he'd be over 250lb.
Re: will anthony joshua stop kevin johnson yes or no ?
Chisora had Johnson down earlier this year. Joshua will TKO him, no doubt.

An American traveling to England to take on a hyped British heavyweight prospect is not going there to win.
It's too early to end Joshua's KO run. Promoters want to build him up his aura as a devastating monster puncher, a la Wilder. A blitz job on the granite-chinned Johnson will certainly serve that purpose.
A stoppage of Johnson is definitely in the cards, and maybe in the script.

Re: will anthony joshua stop kevin johnson yes or no ?
The facts scream 'no'.
Johnson has never been stopped as an amateur or a pro and never even looked halfway close to it either.
Joshua is inexperienced and whilst having heavy hands doesn't seemingly possess the one punch, 'lights out' kind of power of Wilder, Price, Browne, Klitschko or even to a lesser extent Fury. All these guys have genuinely knocked opponents out cold before their opponent's head hits the canvas. Joshua hasn't achieved this, his stoppages are almost exclusively the ref jumping in and waving the fight off whilst the opponent is still on his feet.
So Joshua is going to need to land clean, multiple times on a guy it is proven to be impossible to land clean on multiple times.
Add to this the fact he normally fights on 7 days notice, but for the first time since he fought Vitali he has a full training camp.
Also consider Dylian Whyte's IFlm TV interview this week where he said in the camp for Klitschko vs Pulev that all 3 were in, Joshua couldn't land a glove of Johnson ... And the possibility of a stoppage looks pretty remote.
In my opinion, based on all the facts to hand it appears highly unlikely that Joshua will stop Johnson.
HOWEVER, Because of the size of investment in AJ from Matchroom and Sky, I wouldn't be at all surprised at a nonsensical stoppage around round 7 when Johnson starts to stink the joint out and make Joshua look ordinary. Against the ropes with Joshua throwing a flurry of which almost nothing is landing is my cynical prediction for any 'KO'!
If that does happen and Johnson loses his proud never been stopped record, then I would recommend him to take a leaf out of both Pulev and Hopkin's books and balance on one leg sticking his tongue out and then proceed to drop to the floor and do 20 push-ups
The 'knockout' will look a lot less credible!

I don't think it will be a bomb him out stoppage that Anthony Joshua will get against Kevin Johnson. If he does stop Johnson it will a mid to late stoppage after getting the range etc.
