Quillin didn't beat Rosado. He just inflicted a cut.

Re: David Lemieux favored over Gabe Rosado?
Lemieux has made some improvements. He's jabbing a lot more now and pacing himself better. Still limited but not to the same extent as before.
Re: David Lemieux favored over Gabe Rosado?
Alcine is totally shot now and I highly doubt he's anywhere near as good as Rosado. I can see a Rubio rematch but not Alcine.hurricanemitch14 wrote:chippenduff wrote:Who's next?

agreed...but I would like to see him try to avenge his losses to truly show me he has grown as a fighter.

I have it 38-37 Centeno

Yep, I described that in my following post.JoeCorrao wrote:and then he got Ko'dcrusader wrote:Really competitive fight between Centento and James De La Rosa.

HBO was talking a lot about him fighting GGG. While I doubt that he'd win I think he's one of the most interesting realistic options. Someone like Geale may be a better fighter overall, but what has he got to trouble GGG? Despite his limitations I think Lemieux would be the hardest puncher GGG's faced and I believe his power makes him an interesting opponent in a way that most others aren't. Centeno scored a career-best win in the previous bout and I think him vs Lemieux would be a good fight, and I'd also like to see the latter fight Jacobs as I believe they're on the same level and one of them could separate themselves with a win; I don't know how probable that fight is given that Jacobs is with Haymon though.chippenduff wrote:Who's next?
I really enjoyed tonight's card. I'd rather watch a card filled with relatively low-profile fighters that are evenly matched than cards stacked with relatively high profile fighters on one side but not the other. Lemieux-Rosado was the least competitive fight but Rosado still had his moments.
Re: David Lemieux favored over Gabe Rosado?
Alcine is coming off a draw with Devlin Rodriguez the middle of this year, with two wins (Although horrible opponents) before that. I think a rematch is doable, IMO.crusader wrote:Alcine is totally shot now and I highly doubt he's anywhere near as good as Rosado. Re: David Lemieux favored over Gabe Rosado?
You're right; he seemed to have gone into full blown losing mode and I forgot about those fights. Maybe it is doable.
Re: David Lemieux favored over Gabe Rosado?
I would like him to fight Dmitry Chudinov to see who of them is less limited and more deserving to fight GGG. A winner would likely be a mandatory from both WBA and WBC.

It seems Lemieux has improved - I was wrong about this fight which I expected Rosado to win and I only saw Lemieux winning by cuts of perhaps a big knockout punch. I agree, let's see Lemieux vs Rubio before he gets a title shot, based on this performance I would favour Lemieux to win.
Re: David Lemieux favored over Gabe Rosado?
Lemieux is improved. Punch selection is better. Pacing is better. Not beating GGG but can beat anyone else in the division.

I had very little doubt that Lemieux would win tonight, but he still fights very much the same predictable way swinging his T-Rex arms. He just didn't blow his whole load in the early rounds like he used to. Quillin, Korobov, Ndam, maybe even Curtis Stevens would handle this Lemieux. GGG would decapitate him.

Dan Rafael tweeted:
IMO @lemieuxboxing probably fights again this spring and if he wins & @gggboxing beats Murray Feb. 21 we'll see GGG-Lemieux this summer.

T-rex arms? according to boxrec his arm reach is 1.78 cm.. EXACTLY the same as Golovkin..hulkmaniac wrote:I had very little doubt that Lemieux would win tonight, but he still fights very much the same predictable way swinging his T-Rex arms. Because boxrec stats are always correct, I love his site but it has it's flaws. For instance Keith Thman was listed as like 5'10" at some point and Jean Pascal's reach was listed way shorter. Its common knowledge that Lemieux has "T-rex arms". You can eyeball him and see that his arms are shorter than most of his middleweight opponents.Aaronide_ger wrote:T-rex arms? according to boxrec his arm reach is 1.78 cm.. I'd like to see David v Curtis Stevens; that bout would satisfy the bombs away part of me; a 4 round bout surely?

... or Kirkland. Unfortunately, protected Quillin is not an option.palooka wrote:I'd like to see David v Curtis Stevens; that bout would satisfy the bombs away part of me; a 4 round bout surely?

Maybe in the 50's this would be okay ... but has anyone seen Rosado's face? Can you imagine what his brain is like now?
Yet they keep putting him in with punchers ... and idiots keep talking about HEART.
I wonder where Gabe's promoters, friends, and fans will be in 10 years when he's visibly brain damaged and broke (assuming huge medical bills).

I think most people believe that he has T-rex arms because his reach--which is not just arm length--was initially listed at 64 here. As you suggest though, BoxRec stats are not always correct, and perhaps his initial reach stat is an example of that. I've never looked at him at thought that his arms were extremely short for his height, and his reach has been listed differently by other sources. For a few years I've also seen his arm length listed from 25-25.5, which isn't abnormally short like a 64 inch reach would be for his height.hulkmaniac wrote:Because boxrec stats are always correct, I love his site but it has it's flaws. At 2:15 of the clip below his arm length is listed at 25.5, which is .5 greater than the measurement given for his 6'1" opponent:

Lemieux was on fire last night, looks like he's learning to be a proper fighter now.
