Bolonti - Faking?

I haven't seen the fight, I've just read a report that suggested many thought Bolonti was acting.

For those of you that saw it, is Bolonti the new Dirrell?

I have very little doubt that he was faking. If he was not then I think that Pascal suddenly developed superhuman power and/or Bolonti has some physiological issue that doesn't allow him to take innocuous looking blows without being flattened and stretchered out of the building (though at least he wasn't convulsing, or at least pretending to, like Dirrell).

I wonder how the people who don't believe that Dirrell was faking feel about this incident.

I've just watched it now. Bunce said the doctors checked him over & then left the ring in disgust when Bolonti carried on pretending to be hurt.

It didnt look like the sort of punch to KO a fighter but who knows,shades of Ali/Liston 2

I would say Bolonti made the most of it but i was surprised as it was early days and its not as if he's been getting a beating,i actually had him nicking the 1st round and he showed grit when Bellew dropped him twice early in their first fight and he made it to the end

The ref made a ballz up IMO,he was telling them to let go of 1 another but did he actually call "break"? i didnt hear it and if he didnt surely Pascal was well within his rights to punch Roberto

Then he just left Bolonti lying prostrate on the canvas,whether he was faking or not surely the ref should have been quick out the blocks to put him in the recovery position instead of just telling him to get up,it was about 2 minutes before medics got in the ring,lets hope for their sake that Bolonti is a faker

And the No Contest seemed a bit of a cop out ,either it was a KO win for Pascal or a DQ for him

He seemed to drop hard and that seemed genuine, it was a good punch and flush; he seemed to gather his senses quite quickly and I reckon he was cognicent that he may become out of the bout with something if he played hurt. Pascal landed some very hard body shots and looked the better boxer by a full league; Pascal is improving every bout.

I don't see any news about Bolonti's damages diagnosed at a hospital, so he was faking.

If Bolonti was seriously hit last night, the hospital wouldn't have let him take the next flight to Argentina the same night.
It was a fake. That hit from Pascal wouldn't have hurt a Middlewight fighter.

Someone said that Bolonti was on facebook effectively saying he had been jerked around by the promoter. Not sure if he said it was fake but I suspect he thought it was revenge for the way he'd been treat

As stupid as Pascal was for hitting him after the break, it's a total dive. Tapes came out this morning in Montreal (JL Legendre from RDS) where you clearly hear Bolonti's corner telling him to stay down

Was trying to steal a DQ in a fight he knew he couldn't win. Oldest scumbag trick in the book. F*ck that guy.

They had a contract for a fight but one side tried to steal the win. That's not honest. That's fraud. This was the main event, this charade threw the entire night into disarray.

Bolonti tried to cheat... the blow was illegal and Pascal should have lost a point... then the fight would have gone on normally.

But Bolonti pretended to be hurt so that Pascal would be disqualified.

Do you understand how deliberate this is ? The guy wasn't hurt! He went down and stayed down from a short punch with no power behind it. At one point he even lifts his head off the canvas for a moment but someone from his corner can be clearly heard telling him "Don't get up!" (in spanish) so he goes back down.

The purse was for coming to Montreal, showing up on fight night, and take part in a fight. Even if he takes a knee or pretends to get KO'd after the first punch, he would have gotten paid. But his reputation and standing in the rankings would have gotten destroyed.

In this case, he CHOSE to get out after only one complete round like a coward but instead of taking the loss, he actually tried to defraud the other fighter in the process.

That's the key element that changes everything.

Absolutely disgusting. If that is enough to KO the guy, then he wouldn't have won a fight in his career. Obviously didn't fancy it and saw an easy way out. I am sure that most promoters will now be a bit wary about booking fights with him.
