Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
We know who the better technical boxer is this isn't the question...
Can Floyd, really truely keep with Manny's furious pace? I mean EVERY exchange with Pac is HIGH STAKES...If miss one time, if you
are off balance, if you over commit yourself, any of these he tries to take you head off. EVERY EXCHANGE. Can Floyd deal with this for
12 FULL ROUNDS? Madaina is furious but his is more of a classic flat footed approach it's not the same as Manny's.

Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
That's one hell of a pace to defend against for a full 12 round contest.

Man they hate it when you use factsfergusg wrote:Floyd coped quite well with a 165lb version of Marcos Maidana who threw 858 heavy-handed punches over the course of 12 fast-paced rounds, which is 29% more shots thrown than Manny could manage against Algieri.
End of thread!
Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
Looks like Bnov got his arse wupped again.
Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
I don't think Maidana compares to Manny really though, both are powerful punchers no question and yeah Maidana throws more but is he as accurate as Manny Is ? just comparing styles again, Maidana is a beast, he throws everything at his opponents and physically dominates them, Manny he has destroyed a few of his opponents in the past but he dismantles them round after round more recently and just takes them apart with better all round boxing skills.
I don't know the full stats of their last few fights, I'm just going on what I've seen them both capable of in the past.

Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
We won't know that until they get in the ring and actually fight. Pacquiao has much better footwork than Maidana and punches at all angles. Speed Wise Pacquiao is faster than Maidana. Pacquiao is a better fighter than Maidana.
Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
Has anyone ever seen Floyd gas out in a fight or not come in in great shape? I have seen Pacquiao get tired during fights, but not Floyd. If a 40 yr old JMM can keep up with Pac's pace, I think Floyd can.bnovelist wrote:We know who the better technical boxer is this isn't the question...

Man, you are in full troll mode Bnov.
Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
Yeah but you fail to mention it's Marquez on the juice and its always life and death in his wars against Pac. Always always life and death
Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
The pace I'm making guy case is that Manny punches and bounces all over the ring! He's an extremely fast counter puncher just like Floyd
not a slow conventional Maidana. The only thing that I really do hope is if this fight ever gets made.....
THAT ON FIGHT NIGHT PAC DOESN'T GET STAR STRUCK BEING IN THE RING WITH FLOYD. IF EITHER ONE GETS STAR STRUCK AND HESITANT
IT'S GOING TO BE PACQIAO....
I CAN SEE THAT COMMENTS RIGHT AFTER THE FIGHT ON YOUTUBE....
"MAN PAC WASN'T HIMSELF HE LET FLOYD BULLY HIM." "MANNY WAS SO DOCILE I SMELL A FIX!!!"
I CAN HONESTLY SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS RIGHT AFTER THE FIGHT.

If Floyd finds new reasons to not fight Manny, I think Manny should fight Maidana to make it clear that he is in a different league.northern wrote:I don't think Maidana compares to Manny really though, both are powerful punchers no question and yeah Maidana throws more but is he as accurate as Manny Is ? just comparing styles again, Maidana is a beast, he throws everything at his opponents and physically dominates them, Manny he has destroyed a few of his opponents in the past but he dismantles them round after round more recently and just takes them apart with better all round boxing skills.

Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
Kenny Bayless kept MM away from Floyd in the second fight. MM was happy to get paid in the second one, he agreed to the gloves. No, I don't think he can keep pace with Manny with a neutral ref and allowed to wear gloves of choice. Floyd has lots of trouble in the first fight and that was pillow gloves. In the second fight he still got his way with the gloves and had the added help of Bayless
Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
Prime Pac would have been too much for Floyd.
At the time when the fight should have happened, i'd have agreed with bnovelist, there was a couple years where pacquiao looked unstoppable.
The relelentless pressure Manny would have put him under would have been too much and unless Floyd had a very favorable ref helping him he'd have lost that fight
but both men are now past their prime and pac doesn't have quite the same pace or intensity he once had and the algieri fight has done nothing to convince me otherwise
Mayweather sneaks a points decision now.
I've been of thew same opinion for a few years now.

Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
Remember that the "unstoppable" Pac was the one that outright refused random blood testing, and made up lies about his fears from it and needles, despite having many tatoos. Now Ariza left, and he is ok with random testing, he looks "mortal" again. Not hard to figure it out.davie wrote:Prime Pac would have been too much for Floyd.

No he never - the dispute wasn't over blood testing itself, but the cut off dates they could be taken. The 2 fighters went to a US judge to rule on the matter, his ruling: blood testing with a cut-off date of 14-days before the fight with further samples taken after the fight. Mayweather refused which begs the question, why even go to the judge in the first place?. Also begs the question what kind of superdrug can a man take 13 days before a fight when his camp isn't nearly finished, that will improve his performance and be flushed out his system completely by the time he gets back to the lockerroom? And why in Floyd's 40-or-so fight career had he never requested blood testing previous to Pacquiao? Why was no blood testing done within 18-days of the fight against Mosley, a known doper? And if Ariza only came on board before DeLaHoya, what was Pacquaio taking for the 5 years previous where he put in some career best performances stopping Morales a couple of times and Marco Antonio Barrera?

"Can Floyd, really truly keep with Manny's furious pace?"
The fact that Floyd coped with a 165lb version of Marcos Maidana that probably weighs close to 20lbs heavier than the Filipino, coupled with his work-rate being 29% higher than Pacquiao's, almost certainly supply's the obvious answer to that extremely simple question!
End of thread!
Difference is Pacquiao has NEVER had a problem touching an opponent even in his losses. Maidana had more problems with Alexander than he did with Floyd.
That is a FACT

Neither did your point about Maidana.

Well here's a direct counter to your argument, Maidana may be 29% more active but has NEVER been as accurate as Pacquiao.

It appears it's you who can't read English, the topic title is "Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??".
Maybe you stopped reading at "Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Ma" and picked it up again at "Pace??", then filled in the blanks as "idana's"?
Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With Manny's Pace??
fergusg wrote: Do have have difficulty reading English language? The topic of the thread is about Mayweather's ability to cope with fighting at a fast pace... so I referred to Floyd's fight against Maidana, who threw 29% more punches than Pacquiao could manage in his last fight... In fact, I don't recall Manny ever throwing that amount of punches in any of his recent contests.
But Manny can landed more in his last few fights than Maidana did against even Adrien Broner

Are you guys intentionally trying to divert the topic under discussion, because my claim is an irrefutable statistical fact, or are you intellectually-sub-normal?
No it wasn't, it was the ability to fight 12 rounds with PACQUIAO not can he fight 12 rounds period or fight 12 rounds with Maidana who is a different fighter.

Do you notice the constant theme? It’s all about PACE, PACE, PACE, PACE, PACE!!!
And Manny's pace which is more effective is different from Maidana's pace which is generally less ineffective
End of thread!

Re: Can Floyd Honestly Keep With MANNY's Pace?? It didn't ask if he could last with fighter X or Y for 12 rounds but the pace MANNY fights at which usually means he's throwing and CONNECTING UNLIKE MAIDANA.
