Marisuz Wach would be a good barometer fight for Tyson Fury as Wladimir K dismantled Wach over 12 when Wach got his shot. Plus Tony Thompson would be also good for Fury as well.

The guy is 36 and has only lost twice - once against the best heavyweight in the world, once against the second best heavyweight in the world. He has been knocked down once in his entire professional career, against Wladimir Klitschko who he took nine full rounds. Against Povetkin he put up a very good fight. He has fought six times in the last three years, winning all his fights including his latest against Fres Oquendo - a tough opponent for any heavyweight (not including Wlad).

Explain to me why he is a joke?

spot on.

chagae is a joke , but martin rogan and those class fighters are a "good fight"
wach is a bum when faces wlad, who is a disgrace but a "good fight" for fury and others

chagaev also beat valuev easily. he is hard to beat

Chagaev is old, slow & fat and at 180cm surely far too small to pose any threat to 205cm+ Fury?

He is no longer the same fighter who fought Valuev and Klitcshko ... He is about 3 stone heavier. Not a good look at 5'11

In his last fight he was just over a stone heavier than when he fought the 213cm 46-0 Valuev, who he schooled.

Fury has been knocked down against Pajkic and Cunningham (who was older when he fought Fury than Chagaev is now), neither of them world beaters.

Chageav is a perfectly good opponent for any fighter apart from Wladimir Klitschko.

Well, Cunningham was a multiple time Cruiserweight world champ so he definitely was a world beater! But I understand you mean at heavyweight ... Although he did just beat Amir Mansour, knocking him down in the process and is in excellent shape.

Chagaev looked appalling vs Oquendo in his last fight and was lucky to win IMO, one of the judges had it a draw.

If Fury doesn't lose his mandatory spot, then this would be a great fight for him to take to add another belt to his growing collection. I can't see anything other than a one sided beating and late stoppage if the same Chagaev turns up as did vs Oquendo. A prime Chagaev would have been a different proposition, but he looked well past his prime recently.

Peter Fury said today they are taking 2 fights prior to Wlad. Maybe one tall guy and Chagaev?

Maybe Pianeta? He has size and style similiar to Klitschko's.

You are right about the southpaw, bad

He is a big lump though, not much shorter than Klitschko.

I think Fury would have to be crazy to risk a Klitschko payday to fight against Pulev. Fury is that close, people Wlad to fight him. He should have a low-risk tune-up fight to make sure he doesn't gather rust.

Absolutely :TU:

All these options are still open to Fury if he loses to Wlad (and I am not so sure he does if the fight happens).

Fury could even lose and still have his stock rise if he wins some rounds (nobody has done this vs Wlad since the 1st Tony Thompson fight) or knocks Wlad down (it's happened 12 times so far but not for ages).

No need to risk a fight vs someone like Pulev who is very dangerous. Although he took a hell of a beating vs Wlad, and his chin might now be 'cracked'.

Chagaev's left hand is VERY dangerous.

It's a winnable fight for Fury, but a risky one.

Well Tyson needs a tune up
He needs a big guy
He needs an athletic , type of boxer ,
He needs a name .

He needs to fight Joshua ,, all the above , plus Theres no doubt about it , Joshua is being groomed for a belt and stardom , So Tyson should grab the young lion by the scruff off the neck NOW ,, show him who's boss and get everything he needs .

Or he can wait and let Joshua get better , and get a hiding , in 18 months 2 years , Joshua will be wiping the floor with the likes of Tyson ,, so get him now and put him in his place .

I hope we never see this. That midget gets murdered. Fury is no Valuev. Completely uncompetitive affair. I want to see Fury vs big young guy.

Confusion to WBA ranking:

Wladmir Klitschko - Official title holder

Rusian Chagaev - WBA champion won against Fres Oquendo 06.07.14 ??

Luis Ortz - WBA champion won aganst Lateef Kayode 09.11.14 ??

How does that work out !!??

At fergusg,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. The Inter tiltle is clear, it's a preliminary stage step to the title short of the referanced association of all those four organisations. However the vacant and interim titles are not clear, because WK is still the title holder. I think it's the matter of making money.

I could see this happening, Chagaev is a proven world contender, he's always been around the top but never able to prove himself ready to take a shot at the Klitschko brothers.

Fury should win on points really and having the WBA world title would be good for his career in the long term, plus Chagaev would make it a good fight, he comes in to fight and he's no pushover so he would help fury wade further into world contention.

That is if the fight with Wladimir doesn't happen soon enough for Fury anyway.
