Prime Roy Jones vs Krusher

Post by bnovelist »

As awesome as Roy was in his prime this is the style, the fighter if they were in the same era he would have ducked! Krusher's style would

spell trouble for Roy Jones!! Long, rangy, one punch ko power, can box, has grit and toughness, etc... No way Roy would have signed to

fight Sergei. The same physical tools and chin of Tarver but more vicious!!! Roy would have found one million excuses to why Krusher is

undeserving of a shot at his title and I wouldn't have blamed him. As much as I love Roy Jones and how much he has entertained us

physically Sergei is maybe the strongest I have ever seen at light heavyweight in my lifetime. And he's "Gangster" as well look at the

way he would pushing his fists in the gloves on the floor before the Hopkins fight   I'm telling you guys not only can Krusher

fight but he's GANGSTA!!!!! Actually he looks like one of those russian mafia hitmen

WAY too early in Kovalev's career to put him in matchups with past greats and evaluate fairly. Same applies for Golovkin (which is unfortunate seeing as he's already 32).

It's not too early the writing is already on the wall he has that chin and toughness to go with everything else.

Jones was a once in a lifetime talent. No way current Kovalev beats a prime version of him. I'm not sure Kovalev beats a prime James Toney who prime Jones dominated.

You’re right! I’m a relatively new member of this forum, so I’ll take your advice by ignoring bnovelist’s posts from now on, as they’re utterly bizarre in nature!
They are good for a laugh sometimes, but don't bother arguing with him as he doesn't 'do' reason or sanity.

RJJ would never sign this fight and if he did he'd get KOd

His chin was never there. It just never got exposed

Outside of Toney and a learning Hopkins. rjj resume not that impressive as people make it out to be. There were tons of fighters/fights that were never made

If his resume is legit than klitschkos is as well

Hmm yeah no.

It didnt get "exposed" because he was too damn elusive and fast to get hit cleanly. If you think Kovalev has the speed quotient to solve that riddle you are sadly mistaken.

These hypothetical match ups are totally pointless. People can claim whatever they like but there is no way they can ever be proved right or wrong.

The outcome of this "dream" fight I'm not really going to go into. Yes, Jones could out-skill Kovalev but if Kovelev lands flush he can knock anyone out.

One thing I am absolutely certain of though is there is no way Jones would duck Kovalev or anyone else. To suggest such a thing is an insult to a great sportsman.

A peak Roy is too quick for him. A PRIME Roy, which he hasn't been since post Ruiz remember.

Far too early to say - Kovalev hasn't really been tested yet, Hopkins as pointed out, is old as the hills, though still a top drawer fighter, let's see how he does against the prime elite fighters at his weight.

He may prove to be truly special, but we all know just how special Jones Jr. was - as invincible looking a fighter as I've ever seen in his prime. It's almost easy to forget how great he was now that he has gone on too long, but he was blessed with almost godlike reflexes in his prime.
