Something me & my old man talk about regular at shows. Some of them look incapable of beating anyone & completely lacking in the basics.billy bessey wrote:It's obvious that some must be involved in stage fights are these held behind closed doors? Do they actually happen or are they make believe? Do they just drag people in off the street to take part in them? Anybody know anything about anything?

Bob Mee did a thing a while ago showing latvian's etc getting wins in sparring
Re: Poor foreign fighters where do they get their wins?
Bloated records based pretty much exclusively on what are effectively gym fights. If you look at the locations of most of these wins on your average Latvian/Belarussian import you'll see a 'miraculous' coincidence where they batter some other punter with an 0-1 record at the same location time after time.

adam etches fights this latvian next......http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=bo ... ......look at his wins......a lot of debutants or one win......Coco wrote:Bob Mee did a thing a while ago showing latvian's etc getting wins in sparring

Alot of the fights of the latvians etc are done in gyms, so you have a ref, judge etc but no crowd (who would pay anyway)
so they get a few wins that way, logged with the latvian board and then brought over here as fodder for our boxers.

He may actually be the exception, he holds a win abroad....but he dominates the debutants over in the mighty 'Club Rigas Rings'

You've got that right
I thought he'd be an average opponent when I clicked the record, but this man is actually a former International Masters Silver SMW title challenger and former Baltic Boxing Union International champ.

If you look at some of the latvian wins at club rigas the refs are journymen fighters as well

Etches management turned down Lewis Taylor for (allegedly) a career best purse because it was a backwards step then meets this chap tonight.
Boxing politics eh cant beat them!

To be pedantic, the guy did beat a home fighter with a winning record in France a few years back.los2 wrote:adam etches fights this latvian next......http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=bo ... ......look at his wins......a lot of debutants or one win......Coco wrote:Bob Mee did a thing a while ago showing latvian's etc getting wins in sparring

Boxing being an Olympic sport has presence in every country. The levels are lower in some places but fight are held nevertheless. Where do many UK journeymen get their wins, they don't fight on Sky either.billy bessey wrote:It's obvious that some must be involved in stage fights are these held behind closed doors? uk journeymen are uaually pretty decent, they pick up the odd win over debutants or novice pros.Tarkus wrote:Boxing being an Olympic sport has presence in every country. Great article that, right eye opener that, club Riga was a prominent venue,Coco wrote:Bob Mee did a thing a while ago showing latvian's etc getting wins in sparring
Are a lot "American journeyman wins" picked up in school gymnasiums venues, it must be hard to
Facilitate boxing over there as there's that many different affiliations
