amir khan and the phenomenon of distorted expectations

Post by man »

look at this record:

http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer

by any means, this is a world class record.
winning many, losing some, overcoming
difficulties. showing exciting style and a
solid amount of heart. not ducking anybody.

then why does amir khan get criticized so
much?

because his self chosen bench mark is not
madiana, ortiz or bradely, but floyd and
manny ... and there he falls short.

i believe he is a good second tier boxer and
that is nothing to be ashamed of.

This sums it up nicely!!!!!!. Yes Khan is a very good boxer and a second tier fighter is nothing
to be ashamed of.
But he believes he is on the Pacquiao-Mayweather level.
That and he is a jerk in and out of the ring.

Khan's view of his self proclaimed greatness and that he thinks he is entitled to a Floyd or Manny fight is distorted. The best thing for boxing right now would be for him to get KO'd. Mostly everyone is tired of hearing him running his mouth. If he was smart enough to just STFU and do his talking in the ring, he would get a ton of more respect.
