And the lure of a world title is far greater than a fight with Joshua, fighting Wlad will be big money and even if he loses, the Joshua fight will be there down the line. When Eddie says that it's a natural fight to be made in 6-8 months time, he's lying, unless he's talking about the impact it would have on his bank balance.

Agreed, but that is done during the fight promotion itself, isn't it?

Basically my point is that I don't see Fury (or any other fighter, for that matter) not boxing on Sky PPV because they have previously fought on another channel. If their star is big enough, Sky will be receptive, regardless of how that star has grown....

Fury should keep his options open as long as he can through his career. Best way to maximise his earnings without a doubt. Look at Lennox, not that Fury will have that level of success of course. But he's a great example of someone who called his own shots as best he could.

Fury would be a big ppv Sky seller, especially against Wlad. When you compare Wlad-Fury and Bellew-Clev ( I struggle to put both fights in the same sentence but still ) then the heavyweight match up would be a hundred times bigger. Better stories, much better fighters, for the richest prize in sport ( still is in the right hands ) etc

He would be foolish to cut ties with anyone. Keep all options open. His team are clued up, I'm sure no matter what he achieves, he will earn serious dough out of his boxing career.

As an outsider, that would be the advice I would give to anyone in boxing, whether you like them or not, don't burn your bridges, you never know when you might need someone.

Ok, ok I give in :TU:

I recall reading an article about American PPV audiences and the idea of 'loyalty' to certain fighters who are PPV no matter what they do. Then, there are fighters who could be in PPV if matched against a top opponent. The article basically highlighted how you're backing a fighter with your wallet knowing he is earning mega bucks and how that works on repeat business in terms of consumer choice. One extreme would be people willingly coughing up to see froch vs groves 2 because of how the first fight ended, another extreme would be, who now wants to pay £16.95 to see tony bellew regardless of who he is fighting ? It's safe to say our next British world heavyweight champion will have all his fights on PPV on sky by choice. That could be fury fighting for the vacant wbo title next year. Not saying wlad will vacate through fear of fury but he might vacate to pursue the wilder fight instead.

Fury was all set to box PPV against Sicknote before he got let down.

If fury were to fight for the vacant wbo title it would probably be an underwhelming affair - the wbo top ten is full of soft opposition.. Price is in there so an all British showdown could actually happen if wlad vacates. The reason I mention him vacating is because he fights in march and then wants to fight for the WBC title later in the year. Wbo rules state he has to face fury after the march fight. HBO will pay big bucks for wlad vs wilder (should deontay win the WBC belt) so the wbo belt might get vacated. Fury has to be one of the challengers for it, as far as I know there haven't been any other eliminators so on the basis that money talks we could get fury vs price as an all British heavyweight title fight late summer next year. Price is currently no.9.

When his previous run of fights had been on C5. That's my point......

Is Wilder vs Stiverne 100% confirmed for January 17th?

As far as I am aware it's not and with just around a month to go and tickets aren't even available yet - which seems strange for a World title heavyweight fight in the USA featuring an unbeaten American!

So although I take your point that Wlad might vacate WBO to get the WBC, I don't think it will happen for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, he surely wants to unify all the belts, so better to face Fury first then the winner of Stiverne vs Wilder rather than vacate? Unless he is afraid of Fury, which I doubt (although I think it will be Wlad's toughest fight in years).

Secondly I can see Wilder vs Stiverne dragging on for ages still, meaning Wlad has plenty of time to defend vs Fury. I guess Don King is the issue?
