Anyone know about this, must be unlicensed?

A truly horrible prospect, I'm sure you'll agree?

More evidence that the Malta lot shouldn't have anything to do with boxing in this country, or any other country.

It's not only Danny who should get a grip but his camp and also his family should Put a stop to this ridicule of boxing because this will end in a bad bad way

It's crazy and should be stopped but who actually would promote this? Or even worse pay to watch it?

I've just had a look at the rest of the 'bill', Steve Bendall is down to fight in one the supporting bouts

I agree Danny should have been banned from boxing a LONG time ago, his recent 'performances' have been utterly dire:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oghC3qQqr1o

Opponent was making his pro debut

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOfhYWDsAv4

One odd thing about this, watch until the (merciful) end and you'll notice that when Danny has his gloves removed ... NO hand wraps, did this mean:

A: Danny 'knew' he was going over quickly so why bother?

B: He had no intention of throwing a meaningful punch so why bother?

As for the Botha 'contest' I suppose it's better for both man to be fighting an opponent of similar age and decrepitude rather than a young unbeaten prospect?

I almost thought this was a joke at first..

Then I realised it is a joke but a real one!

Why these two are allowed to fight is truly beyond me. I have no explanation!

They were due to fight in Egypt years ago for the WBF title, but Danny was beaten by Sosonowski and it was called off, and earlier this year they were mooted to meet in Abu Dhabi, now it's an MBC bill in London ... what a come down.

The MBC strenuously argue they are a 'legitimate' boxing commission (like the Luxembourg commission that sanctioned the Haye v Chisora fight) but when you see the likes of Danny and Botha on one of their bills, Mark Prince (long inactive 40 +) and Ian Weaver (brain cyst) you have to wonder how 'legitimate' they are. Danny/Prince/Weaver were all refused BBBoC licenses and Botha was denied permission to box Tyson Fury a few years back.

Awful bout. Both boxers are about a 100 years past their best and have been stopped lots of times. I get the impression that they don't care if they win, lose or draw, just as long as they pick up a pay check. I hope they are lucky enough to escape lasting damage.

You're not daft, Chimp.

Whilst I'm not disputing Danny's long-term health is at risk, I think he's throwing most of these fights for pay and is in more control than most give him credit for. Careless getting spotted with no wraps on though.

The MBC should be banned from promoting UK shows; they are a danger to the sport.

It is an odd one that, I know for title fights etc an official watches the hand wrapping and signs them accordingly but even for a 'down the bill' contest they are surely mandatory (?) and wouldn't/shouldn't someone check before the gloves go on?

As for 'throwing fights' you're probably right, I've always though this 'fight' was questionable for example?

I've looked more closely and Bendall is the WBU (German Version) MIDDLEweight champ so a prospective bout with future WBO SUPERmiddle champ 'Smigga' would NOT be in fact a unification battle, however I am sure the MBC will happily sanction it for the MBC Super/Interim/Emeritus Supermiddleweight 'title'?

About 15 years ago it would have been a cracking fight for the Commonwealth title or a World title eliminator. Transplant it into 2014 and we all scream, no just no. Put them out to pasture for goodness sake.

Danny Williams used to suffer from terrible nerves and confidence problems before a fight and tha twas when he was good, now he's in the ring taking a beating seemingly every week, you would have hoped those nerves would have eventually stopped him from becoming a punchbag. I wonder why he does it, does he really need the money that badly? I'm certain its not for "love of the sport"
