depends what you call a top contender really, if were talking like top 5 ranked in an organisation then I'd say he could beat Chisora (ranked #3 by IBF), Chagaev (WBA world) if he boxed a good fight, going lower to like top ten I'd say he could beat Francesco Pianeta (WBO European, ranked #9) again if he boxed well

these are based on the ranking currently on the IBF,WBC,WBO and WBA websites.

To call David Price a fraud is a tad harsh, as I felt at the time when he was unbeaten 15-0 with 13 KOs and had the British and Commonwealth belts on his CV. If I was Price's promoter I wouldn't have put him in with someone like Thompson who has twice boxed for the World title and has got some good wins, until Price had got the Lonsdale for keeps and made a couple defences of the European title and then gone for him.

Frank Maloney took a gamble in the hope of beating what appeared to be an ageing Thompson would make a splash, but it backfired on everyone.

I want to see Banks focus more on training the fighters he inherited from Steward. I think he's going to turn out to be a great trainer as the years go by.
Wlad Klitschko has some (maybe 2) "top contenders" to beat in the next year, and I like that he has Banks in his corner.

Tarver is a wild card thrown into the heavyweight mix...I expect he'll win some and lose some :)
