Most Title Shots Without Winning A Title
Most Title Shots Without Winning A Title
Anybody know who might have the dubious distinction at any weight ? I know Andrew Golota went 0-4 in heavyweight title fights. I'm going to have to do some checking on this one.
David Vedder
Vedder was a less then impressive 12-8-3 when he challenged Virgil Hill for the WBA Light-Heavyweight title in Feb of 1990 and dropped a 12 rounder. Vedder then received 3 consecutive title bids. On Dec 1992 he dropped a 12 rounder to Jeff Harding for the WBC Light-Heavyweight crown. March of 1993 he dropped a 12 rounder to Anaclet Wamba for the WBC Cruiserweight title and in Dec. of 1993 he lost a 12 rounder to Henry Maske for the IBF Light-Heavyweight title. Vedder was 15-10-3 going into those 3 title fights. Whoever was getting him those fights, sure was a good manager. This guy got 4 World title shots and some fighters fight their whole career and never get close to one.

Yaqui Lopez?
Yaqui Lopez robbed a few times?
John Conteh won by a mile on points. The SD15 on the record pages are wrong, it was UD15
Saad Muhammad and Carlos deLeon both stopped Lopez.
Is there any info on Yaqui´s two fights against Victor Galindez. Both fights were in Italy, not Argentina.

Golota went 0-1-3, it seems everybody forgot his fight with Byrd was a DRAW. However, if you include NABF, you may "improve" his record to 0-1-4.Seamus wrote:Anybody know who might have the dubious distinction at any weight ? I know Andrew Golota went 0-4 in heavyweight title fights.
