Andy Lee v Korobov spoiler

Post by jameswilson »

Lee wins by stoppage. Landed a beauty of a right hook and then followed up with a load of unanswered shots. Impressive stoppage. Sets him up against BJS.

Reminded me a lot of the Jackson stoppage. Lee losing (haven't seen the cards but Korobov seemed clearly ahead to me), just hit with a good shot, and catches his opponent with a right hook when they were getting a bit wild.

Anyone think Lee takes a GGG unification instead of a bout with Saunders? Obviously he'd have a low chance of winning but the payday would likely be very good.

BJS vs Lee would be next in Ireland or London

I think that's more likely, but Geale got paid almost 400k pounds and I can see a big offer being made to Lee.

Andy Lee never looks particularly good does he but he can bang and it's got him a world title. Fair play to him, nice guy, really pleased for him.

Korobov it has to be said is a disappointment. Technically pretty good but limited movement, limited power.

Ireland for such a small country doesn't half throw out some good fighters - McGuigan, Collins, Frampton, Lee ......................... . Tough buggers they are.

Don't think he'll get the choice, Saunders stepped aside for him, the deal was that the winner would fight Saunders/Eubank Jr, if it doesn't happen, Fwank will blow his nut and start suing people.

Almost as tough as the Welsh!

Pleased for Lee who seems a nice guy. Should he fight Golovkin? Depends on the payday because that's a fight he has virtually no chance of winning and will more than likely get bashed up himself.
Saunders doesn't have any right to be talking about a title shot yet. We can paint it how we like but his last fight was against a novice who had arguably never fought above area level.

Despite this, I think he can beat Lee

Andy lee next fight should be vs Heliand (the guy who beat macklin) then face mandatory Saunders

if macklin gets a few wins now, they will get macklin vs lee, easy!!!

He's mandatory, Lee only got the shot because he stepped aside to fight Eubank Jr.

The fall of Macklin makes a world title shot for him a total mismatch

I can actually see Eubank Jnr getting in on this, although BJS deserves it he is tied with Fwank, is Eubank not a floater?

well pleased for him, never really rated lee which I think sometimes happens when a boxer isn't aesthetically pleasing, just goes to show theres a lot more to this game than flash styles or impressive looking numbers, well done andy :TU:

BJS is a big big money fight.

if he does fit in a voluntary needs to be careful not to blow the big £££££ fight
thats why Heiland (also a south paw) is a perfect voluntary before BJS

Nice to see Lee win a title, let GGG do his thing and make some big fights over here with all the MWs knocking about.

Its great Andy has won seems a good guy as well. Such a shame Macklin was a shadow of himself a few weeks agho as that would have made a huge fight in Ireland.

Spot on bring a World Title fight to Ireland in March April would be best. However Heiland may have signed to fight Ryder by now....

Good. Then the likes of Murray/Macklin will be looking for shots. Could be an interesting couple of years.
