Got to hand it to Andy Lee, I thought he was the weak link between Barker, Macklin and Murray - but he bagged the WBO title last night against a good opponent.

I have been totally wrong about him, showed good technique and heart last night, the fight was not going all his way and he produced the equaliser from the bag, again. well done Ireland, well don't andy lee, well done adam booth. I should think lees achievement last night ranks right up there with all the great days booth has had with haye etc.

It's weird, isn't it? I mean, he appears to carry everything in that right hook... Peach of a shot, the same angle that did for Julian Jackson's boy. Though Korobov's lack of pro experience did for him, imo; didn't take a knee, couldn't grab hold, just put the ear-muffs on & sort of wobbled about.

Derek Edwards hurt him but didn't jump on his arse (I admit I had to go look that up, Korobov's career has been so fvcking beige it had escaped my notice). MK very very wide open & squared up in exchanges.

Great win & a decent stoppage, Korobov neither complained nor showed any ability to survive.

Yep, realised that after I'd posted. That's even fvcking worse, though, isn't it? Watching the first round of the Edwards fight again, he's totally square on winging them from behind his back, much the same way as he went on to get caught vs Lee, & he just stands wide & the left side of his chin is so invitingly open.

Strange that with all that amateur pedigree he still does that.

Brilliant night for Lee,i just watched the fight today and i was jumping around like a madman,it was one of they Burns,Barker or Brook moments(except Andy's surname doesnt begin with a B)

He's always came across as a sound bloke and the lads in the studio confirmed it,well deserved,that right hook's a peach of an equalizer,i actually had him winning the frst 3 rounds...just,i was really struggling to split them and i preferred his odd success with the back hand rather than Korobov's more methodical approach and when the commentators started to like Lee's work i went for Matts

It's strange that he makes mistakes like that because of the way the Russian amateurs are schooled, usually very textbook. Doesn't surprise me that it hasn't been ironed out as a pro though, sometimes the extra amateur experience makes it harder because they've doing it so long and they're so set in their ways it's very difficult to change.

Korobov has that solid,sturdy look that a lot of the Eastern Europeans have but there has to be questions on his chin now,badly wobbled a couple of times now

Delighted for Andy.....I was firmly in the 'unlikely' camp when it came to rating his chances.

Thought the Russian might be just a bit too fresh and that Andy might have missed his moment. Turns out that it was exactly Lee's moment and boy did he take it.....really hope he make a few quid and as much as I'd like to BJS-Eubank go again, a defence against Billy would be perfect.

Well done to Andy Lee, I thought he'd fall short by quite a bit last night. I watched the Jackson and Horta fights and thought that Lee might be lucky and get a payday out of a title shot and that was it.

But he boxed sensibly last night, hurt Korobov in the 2nd and kept up his movement , he was behind slightly at the stoppage, but again proved that he can punch.
Maybe we will get to see him vs Saunders, i'm not so sure who will win now, as i picked Saunders before last night

I had it 4-1 Korobov and two judges had it 5-0 for the Russian. I actually thought it was Korobov boxing well for the most part, but he got reckless when he landed a good shot and Lee made him pay. Andy is very dangerous when he's in trouble, and I think Korobov would've been better off just picking at him over the rounds rather than trying to get him out of there. Korobov also got over-excited when he hurt Derek Edwards in the first round of their bout and he was caught and similary hurt (same sort of stagger too), but that came right at the end of the round and I think he was saved by the bell.

I had it 3-2 to Korobov, but wasn't overly impressed with him last night before the stoppage. Maybe the stoppage was a bit too soon, but there was no complaints from the Russian at the time, just a resigned look when he was lead back to his corner.

Very good win for Lee and probably the best result of his career but to be honest given the circumstances of how the title became vacant, who is at the top of the division and Korobov's standing I can't help but shrug my shoulders at the worth of this title.
