So who does? It's not like Mayweather always picks the most deserving fighters at welter.
I can name a couple of more deserving but I don't expect them to happen.
Also styles makes fights. Pacquiao and Khan are very challenging fights for Mayweather.

Khan did his thing last night. But I think the Showtime crew were trying to serve gallons of Kool-Aid.

Khan is still technically flawed and the leaping 3 punch combinations will not do anything to Floyd past the 3rd round.
Also, while Khan clearly won, many of the rounds weren't complete blowouts.

Well supposedly you are supposed to earn things by merit.

I noticed that Khan still throws shoe-shine punches.

And is it just me, or did Khan lunge a lot last night?

I dont think Khan deserves a shot a Mayweather in the sense that he's the holy grail for what he brings to the table but i do think at the end of the day that Mayweather for however good he is and however many dollars he brings to the table,he is only a world champion like Paquiao and Brook and if you ask me does Khan deserve a shot at a world title then my answers yes,he is proven at world level and if Money feels he's bigger than the belts which he is then maybe he should vacate them because he must be the only fighter who doesnt have to do mandatories

Khans handspeed gives him real problems but although it wasnt too evident last night, they defensive flaws will still be there,i know Amir is fast but with the amount of flurrys he throws,he'll leave himself open and Floyd will have success with the counters

If Maidana can push Mayweather close(on the cards of their 1st fight at least) then so can Amir surely

Exactly. Though I have no problem with the term deserving, especially since it is boxing we are talking about, but who's deserving is merely an opinion that gets tossed around when the best are not fighting the best. You cannot become a champ if you don't get the chance to fight for it.

Nobody with a glass chin is a challenge for Mayweather.

It will take a few rounds for Floyd to get the timing then afterwards somebody will ask how did Floyd suddenly become such a devastating puncher and declare that he juiced up for the fight.

How about who wins between Khan vs Garcia?

Khan vs Peterson?

Khan beats a guy who has already been beaten by lesser fighters and already because he beat Devon who did not do anything special in that bout we have a question like this!!

Allow me to breakdown Devon Alexander's faults that Mayweather never makes so it'll be easier for you to see why he (Khan) can never pull off what he did last night to Floyd:

Devon did not make Khan circle the opposite direction during the entire fight, he allowed Amir to be comfortable (Floyd won't), Alexander has no respectable punching power (Mayweather does), Devon added no feints, didn't change levels, didn't set traps, left huge holes in his defense to be tagged easily due to holding his head straight up, never used a stiff straight jab (something Floyd does regularly) and never put Amir's back on the ropes.

I'm not even sure why there is a perception that Alexander being used as a gauge to say how Amir would do against Floyd.

Other than Pacquiao and Khan, who are these so called "fast" fighters Floyd avoided?

I'm looking at the Ring rankings from 2009-2013, and the only really fast fighters I see are Pacquiao, Khan, Malignaggi, Lara, and Martinez.

Someone else has been knocked out 3 times and everyone wants Mayweather to fight him. Khan's only been knocked out twice and he has changed his style, he's still not perfect but he's a lot more measured than he used to be, more thought and control in his boxing.

styles make fights, yes khan lost to mayweater, but his style is th eonly one that can cause floyd trouble thats why people want to see it.

people wanted to see hayve vs vitali, but what did he do to deserve it apart from hurt his pinky toe....again people felt his style might catch vitali

anyway, only options for may are
1. khan
2. garcia
3. thurman
4. brook
5. pacman

you can pick your self who is better on - value, tickets, skill and $$$$$$

Obviously Manny is ahead of all of them with brook, Thurman and Garcia exhibiting far more skills than Khan who's only major weapon is his supposed speed (which isn't all that because he has no power to back it up).

Alexander and Collazo walked right through Amir's power, he'd get put to sleep in devastating fashion vs Thurman; hell at this point I'm prepared to say that Brook beats him.

Khan has fast hands. So does Pacquiao. Pacquiao is better all around - defense, chin, footwork, experience, etc.

For anyone to say that Khan's "style", pitter patter jabbing on the outside with the occasional fury is superior to that of Pacquiao and would give Floyd more trouble is fornicating delusional.

Dont get me wrong, speed is the big common denominator for both men and both would trouble Floyd who prefers to fight slow fighters.

The truth is, pac and floyd are a level above any other guys out there. Hopefully they will get the fight made, and go out with a bang. Khan, Porter, Brook, Thurman, Guerrero, etc, can sort it out after these guys retire.

Manny has been ko'd once in the last decade.........not to mention Khan wouldn't last 3 rds. We're hyping p4p #1 vs the 3rd or 4th best JW. Style changes???? still lunges in......and he will get his head taken off soon!!!
