I think today's press conference was just to announce the show and the confirmed date and venue. His opponent wasn't announced!

It would be hilarious if he fought Ustinov AND lost ... I'd laugh (long and hard)

He won't if it's continually carefully selected opponents.

Hammer fits the bill. One paced, no power, half decent ranking. 90-10 fight.

I am a fan of Tyson but I want to see him in a challenge. Chisora was a treading water fight that turned in to nothing more than fight to dust the cobwebs off. The route they are taking will lead him to a title shot eventually but he won't be best prepared for it.

Surely a statement to wlad would be to beat someone that is dangerous.

Another tick over/tread water fight like his last 2 won't worry wlad.

Why not another top 15/20 ranked wbo fighter. Will be interesting.

Trouble is top 20 WBO is full of no-names or tick over opponents.

Alex Leapai. :TU:

Or Chris Arreola, those two have a bit of twitter 'banter' history going on, don't they?

FW said it will be a top 15 ranked opponent... Top 15 in what though (BoxRec, Ring, WBO, EBU) Im not sure!

Francesco Pianeta?

Ranked number 5 in WBO. 6'5", not a massive puncher, and hasn't really fought anyone of great note apart from in his KO loss to Wlad last year.

Its been reported he will be defending his EBU title, so cant be those 2 if true!

If it's an EBU defense HAS to be Ustinov:

1. Fighting someone that size is ideal preparation for Wlad.

2. It will quell the rumours he 'bottled it' the last time they were due to fight.

Hammer and Pianeta are a complete waste of time frankly.

Ustinov is a decent fighter - and it's a fight I'd love to see, but beating him didn't seem to help Pulev much in terms of preparing for Wlad. :verysad:

Thats what I though, until I had a quick look at the EBU rankings and found that Ustinov (surprisingly) isnt ranked! Neither is Hammer, Wach (who isnt top 15 anyway), Pianeta, Charr or Glazkov (who is fighting Cunningham) for that matter!

Im not sure if you need to be ranked by the EBU to get a shot at the title shot though?

If you do its worth having a look at the EBU rankings http://media.wix.com/ugd/dd6960_be80a28 ... a8b08f.pdf

You'll see that the top 4 are highly unlikely, and the rest (exluding Szpilka and Price) aren't ranked in the top 15 by any of the four major sanctioning bodies (both Peter and Fwank have said it will be a top 15 ranked opponent).

I cant see it being Price, so that only leaves Spilka. Unless of course you dont have to be ranked by the EBU to get a EBU title shot and then it could also be Hammer, Pianeta or Charr. Wach and Ustinov are not ranked by the 4 major sanctioning bodies, so going by what Peter and Fwank have said it cant be them!

Pulev gave Wlad a good go... Wlad simply shone that night...

Besides, Ustinov isnt currently ranked top 15 in WBC, WBO, WBA or IBF, so going by what both Peter Fury and FW have said, cant be him, or Wach for that matter... Which is slighly perculiar as they are the two perfect fighters to prepair for Wlad and are not majorly high risk!

Depends on what is up for grabs in the fight. If it's a world title eliminator they could get a better opponent, as he'd be one win away from a crack at wlad. With all due respect to fwank he has been delivering rubbish heavyweight opponents over the past couple of years so I can't see him breaking the bank to bring in a top name.

I find is bizarre that Ustinov isn't ranked by the EBU. He fought for their belt 2 sanctioned fights ago. 2 years ago now, but still...

I think hasn't done too badly with the opponents for Chisora over the past couple of years. He didn't bring Vitali or Helenius over ... but he did get Malik Scott, Gerber and Haye.

As I previously said, I predict that it's going to be Tony Thompson.
