So, if your kid came home and he couldn't read nor write, do you blame Michael Gove or do you go to a more direct source to deal with the problem?rob h wrote:Why blame the police? Police are stretched to the limit, but there aint enough resources to deal with things when you have idiots phoning up as someone has called them a slag on facebook.
So blaming the police is a pathetic thing to say in my opinion.
And if you went in to see your kids teacher and they said 'what do you want me to do about it? Not my problem' then you would go absolutely ballistic - but then teachers have a lot less leeway than police officers in regards being held responsible for actually doing their job.
And even if I agree that policing levels and their effectiveness within the law is part of a wider problem, officers on the beat and their attitude towards burglary has nothing to do with the government or higher ups, their lack of sympathy and effectiveness is totally their responsibility. If I call 999 because my house has been burgled and two cops turn up 90 minutes later and tell me 'what do you want us to do about it?' I am going to blame them, who else will I blame?
And this was before the invention of facebook and social media - they weren't tracking down twitter trolls in 1993, nothing seems to have changed in over 20 years since.
