Dublin 28th Jan 2005
Just booked my flight and reserved my ticket for the boxing in Dublin on the 28th. Colin Kenna is fighting Luke Simpkin.
Is anyone else going?
How does everyone see the fights going? Can't wait to see Gomez and Dunne in action.

I'm considering going to Dublin to cheer to Luke on. I could'nt agree more with you billy, luke has improved alot over recent times, I went to see him fight Carl Baker for the masters title and in my personal opinion he got robbed (dropped a ten round decision by one point), his work rate was consistent throughout the fight (either that or Bakers laziness made it look like luke was busy), but if Luke can put in a similar performance as he did against Baker, Kenna will get tested.

Good posts Billy and Wilse. I was a bit shocked at first when Colin said he was fighting Luke, every British heavywight IMO should have Luke's name on their record but I felt this should have been on Colin's before the Sprott fight, but if he has improved then it should be a great scrap. Hopefully he'll take Colin the 10 rounds because I don't think COlin's gone beyond 6 and needs to see what its like in those closing rounds when people are still coming strong with nothing to lose.
Now Henry Castle and Brian Maghee has been added to the bill it should be a top night of boxing and I can't wait.
Are you going over Billy?

I thought he was fighting for the irish Heaveyweight Championship, I remeber he aske dme where Luke was from and when I said the Midlands he was suprised he was fighting for that title.topper123 wrote:Kenna has to defend his Southern Heavy title against Micky Steeds by the end of March, So he is getting the right kind of warm up in Simpkins.
I haven't spoken to him since the Steeds fight was rumoured as he's been in Dublin for his Dad's birthday. Will see him this week to get my tickets so will ask and report back. For some reason I thought Kenna vs. Steeds would be an eliminator for the British Title so will find out that as well.
