Kovalev vs Pascal 50/50

Post by bnovelist »

As awesome as Kovalev has been looking....if Roy Jones trains Pascal again for this fight I may just give Pascal a decent shot! Against

Bute he was vibrant and looked revamped under the guidance of his mentor Jones Jr!!! I wouldn't right Pascal off as of yet and it's being

hosted in Montreal!!!! Keep believing that Kovalev will wipe out Pascal with ease

Home officiating happens everywhere, including Canada.

I wonder if the ref will be fair? If it goes to the cards, will the Canadian officials rob Sergey? Pascal is very durable and difficult to hit flush, he may survive the distance.

Obviously not. That was a great fight though, 12 rounds toe to toe.

I don't see this as being close. I was very impressed with Kovalev against Hopkins. Boxed well, and showed that he isn't just a power puncher with no substance. A fight with Stevenson is unlikely, so this perhaps offers the best potential threat to Kovalev. I can see it going 12, but a one sided points win for the Russian.

Kovalev may actually kill Pascal, not theoretically, literally.

Pascal is another overrated Canadian Boxer like Bute and Stevenson. I think the only legitimate fighter from Canada right now is Lemieux in the Middleweight division. That kid looks fantastic.

I must admit that Pascal has skill but Kovalev is a beast. I'm not sure when he'll get his just due but at some point boxing fans have to appreciate Kovalev who in my opinion is a top 5 pound for pound fighter right now. He's exciting. He has extreme power in both hands and just seems like he's just a great guy living the American Dream.

Pascal's stamina has been awful in his last 5 fights. When he's done running, he will have to sit down and fight and Kovalev is going to take him out easily. EASILY. KO in the 10th is my prediction. Kovalev.

yeah sorry, mixed him up with bute. still kovalev is going to stop him, he punches harder than froch and is a bigger man (froch is a natural SMW).

Kovalev's stock went way up when he schooled Hopkins. While Hopkins was older, no one else made him look the way he did.

Kovalev is not just a puncher, he's a smart technical operator as well.

Pascal is decent, but I think he'll be outclassed.

Kovalev via mid round TKO.

You spew the same garbage everytime, yes the Ref will be fair but he will not make the difference in this fight. Kovalev can make all the difference as long as he comes forward and keeps punching, Pascal is not a counterpuncher at all and he leaves openings when he is attacked so as long as Sergey make him fight going backwards he can win this bout easily.

Wow! Where does the hate come from my friends? There seems to be small faction of not-so-secret Canuck haters in this forum. Wonder why. Is it because they still feel the need to wear Canadian flag patches on their backpacks when they go overseas so as not to be singled out and have small children chase them down the street throwing stones? :D Don't worry. The Canadian embassy will always be there to shelter you and sneak you out of whatever country you find yourself besieged in. :TU:

Nobody hates Canada. Canada is just like.........there! There is a massive inferiority complex amongst Canadians however, but I cannot blame them, they have to live their lives in the shadow of another country. I think that may be frustrating. But damn can they play hockey!

Wrong again ... Frock is not a "natural" 168 fighter. He's probably a "natural" cruiserweight. He probably doesn't walk around much less than Kovalev does.

The difference in strength between 168 and 175 is negligible, but boxing fans are idiots so they believe that they very recent imaginary mid-weight classes are real. Weight classes that were made for MONEY!!!!

Even if SCIENCE, COMMON SENSE, AND EVERY OTHER SPORT DISAGREES ... but then again, there's no fans stupid like boxing fans.

Honestly believe it or not Pascal didnt have the motivation for his last opponent but you can rest assure that he will rise for the occasion

against Kovalev! Especially Roy Jones being his chief trainer for this fight? For the first time in his career Kovalev will fight another young,

strong, powerful buck like himself that will try to take his head off with every chance! :bag: :bag: :bag:

With Roy Jones Jr (His Idol) in his camp man please Kovalev is in for the fight of his life! Keep thinking that Kovalev will ko Pascal so easily

in canada too? Okay....   In fact Jean Pascal has more of a shot that Stevenson it's that whole "I Have My Idol From

Childhood That I Always Looked Up To Training Me For The Biggest Fight of My Life." To me that's a HUGE motivation.

Pascal vs Kovalev either a draw or 118-115 split dec victory for Pascal!!!!!!

Pascal's power, heart, toughness....

Roy Jones Jr in his training camp....

Fight is in Canada...

Shit.....

All roads leads to an upset over here where many say Kovalev was robbed but could have gone either way! :TU: :TU:

So Roy Jones Jr is going to work miracles and gain a 118-115 score for Pascal?

Never ever heard of a 118-115 scored in Boxing. But this is a first for Roy and Pascal...O.K

Pascal has his punchers chances which are pretty good, as he is very evasive and will be able to avoid fatal punches for quite a while. I would give him 25-30% chance.

It's a fairly well known fact in British boxing that Froch doesn't blow up between fights and is never much over the SM limit. Much like Hopkins, he lives the right lifestyle.

Pascal is going to train at the Big Bear Mosley's gym:
http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/pascal- ... ear-274735?

Here is what Abel Sanchez said about that gym when Pascal was preparing for the Bute fight:
(at the end) http://www.maxboxing.com/news/max-boxin ... mit-stable
Light heavyweight contender Jean Pascal is also preparing in Big Bear, CA but not at The Summit. Instead, he is training at Shane Mosley’s nearby gym with his team which includes controversial conditioning coach Angel “Memo” Heredia. When I asked Sanchez if Golovkin and Pascal had sparred together, it was my turn to be surprised.

“No, no, never. Back in November, I talked to [Pascal’s trainer] Mark Ramsey and I talked to some of [Pascal’s] people. Pascal came up to my gym and looked at my gym and decided he wanted to train at my gym. He rented a house and he was going to be up the last week in December. But right after I talked to Pascal and we came to an agreement on terms, I found out that he was working with ’Memo’ Heredia. And I really don’t want that in my gym, so I asked him to back out. I told [Ramsey] that I was going to back out on our agreement because I really didn’t want to be involved with somebody that was working with Heredia.”

Heredia is a former P.E.D. dealer-turned-government witness whom, in recent years, has reinvented himself as a conditioning coach in boxing, working with Juan Manuel Marquez, Jhonny Gonzalez, Jorge Arce and Pascal among others.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/13/sport ... d=all&_r=0

Despite Heredia’s insistence that he is now working clean, it is understandable why Sanchez would not want someone with Heredia’s history in his gym.
Will Pascal be well juiced ?

I believe in Pascal! I'll ever go out on a limb to say that he will make it much of a fight to where there is a case for a rematch

this summer! There will be a rematch Pascal can club you as well not just Kovalev and he's athletic as hell! He will use his footwork

and circle that ring very well watch! After the rematch both of these guys will be damaged and this is what adonis wanted :OhYes:

Gotta love Jean Pascal man this guy has balls and never has backed down from a fight! He dodges NO FIGHTER :shame:
