Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
Oh, the pathetic Top Rank 147 pound stable.
Sick of watching the same fights over and over again. Unfortunately there are a bunch of people hyped to see Rios and Alvarado give each other more brain damage. We all know exactly what's going to happen. There is no intrigue, just violence ... at that point, the sport just becomes as senseless and barbaric as the Roman spectacles we all think were cool for a second; then we realize that people were really being murdered for entertainment.
Why not start the GBP/TR union with a card like Rios/Ortiz and Alvarado/Porter? It will be something NEW for "Christ's" sake, and it will seem like Marvel VS DC because we haven't see the top level guys from both stables go head to head. What if we find out that Alvarado dominates Porter? That would fornicate up everyone's rankings.
But whatever ... instead we have this again. Enjoy your blood.

Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
they cant beat any other names bit each other ......unless they win by bogus dq
Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
Not that I want to see it, but they are one win apiece. It's not like Ali Raymi, who is 4-0 against the same opponent.
Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
Reasons to fight each other.
---------------------------------------------
They will make the most money (in their next fight) against each other.
Winner gets back into Top Ten(ish) & a possible mega money bout.
They are 1 each.
Their fights are exciting.
--------------------------------------
It's not like either has a load of options. Neither one is top level at welter but both are crowd pleasers. To get a big money shot again one of them has to defeat the other. I have no problem with this bout.
And without being insulting, if the OP is worried about boxers getting brain damage then he/she shouldn't be watching boxing. They will all get it to some extent. Some fighters have war after war & don't get affected too much while others are slurring after no really tough fights.

Why not !!
Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
Neither of them would last against Keith Thurman or Sammy Vasquez. They'd be sitting ducks.

I don't have a problem with this one. It will be a good action fight and should be evenly matched. It's as sensible a time as any to complete the trilogy.
The real problem is for the bigger name TR guys (Pacquiao, Marquez, Bradley) who have fought every combination of each other and really need to be fighting Heymon-managed opponents at this point.

Roman gladiators were extremely skilled fighters nothing barbaric about it. Other then that I totally agree. I did not even watch II let alone III.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Oh, the pathetic Top Rank 147 pound stable.

Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
Well if Rios wins this trilogy he will again become a relevant fighter in the division. Alvarado is basically done even if he wins this fight. I'm guessing the idea is to have Rios fight Bradley or Marquez after he beats Alvarado.
Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
Apparently Rios is enough of an elite fighter that he got the fight with Pacquiao.
I cannot believe this guy still gets $1 million per fight? Of course Algieri, being the elite fighter that he is, also got a Pacquiao fight.
Rios vs Alvarado is entertaining to a small crowd, and understandably so, but not to most fans. As long as people don't have to pay for it, let them fight. Both are even below gatekeeper status at 140 or 147.
If you want to sell a fight under TR that people will watch, line up Rios vs Provo.

So when they put untrained slaves in the arena to be killed by the extremely skilled gladiators, that wasn't barbaric?
When the extremely skilled gladiators were being torn to shreds by lions, that wasn't barbaric?
What the f uck is wrong with you? Get a grip on reality and stop romanticizing something because it "looks cool" on television.
Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
I have a very strong grip on reality son. I have been reading volumes on the history of Rome when you where watching Disney cartoons and Rocky movies. So quit making idiotic assumptions about me and focus on what I wrote, maybe you can learn something.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Nothing barbaric?Tarkus wrote:Roman gladiators were extremely skilled fighters nothing barbaric about it. ... and at the end of the reading you concluded that it wasn't barbaric ...
Sorry, I guess skill makes it okay to hack unskilled slaves to death. I guess skill trumps the senseless murder of animals. You have NO grip on reality because you've read those things as a historic text and didn't realize those people were human beings too.
So me, and the rest of the sensible world, look back at that as a part of history that should never be repeated BECAUSE IT WAS BARBARIC. So maybe you need to actually do some thinking instead of mindlessly reading historic texts son.
Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
Yes of course, I will immediately go and watch Spartacus and Ben Hur. So that I can learn about human suffering and perhaps how to think as well. Stop embarrassing yourself, stick to boxing.
Re: Rios VS Alvarado III - Why?
They're 1-1, the fights were entertaining, and they're in a tough division in which neither would probably beat the top guys. I'm usually not a fan of fighters repeatedly fighting each other but I think there are good reasons in this case.
