Khan Wearing Most Expensive Trunks In Sports History Tonight

Post by Cedric »

Apparently his 24 karat gold trunks cost an insane $30,000 euro. Well, I guess if you have the money, but...... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/articl ... fight.html

Why do these remind me of the ones Broner wore to fight Maidana?

There are nine advertisers paying for the privilege of their brand to appear on TV being worn by Khan… on boxing attire that will be hyped-up by the media as the most expensive shorts ever worn inside the ring, which will almost certainly be auctioned off to a casino or a museum, with the proceeds going towards the Amir Khan Foundation (a charity).

I honestly don’t think that there’s anything wrong with these shorts being made and then sold off in order to help deprived parts of the world with orphanages, schools and clean waters.

You guys always look for opportunities to be negative and impulsively criticise without considering the big picture!
The fact that shorts like this are being made is why the poor won't be helped ... you need to see the big picture.

Also, NO ONE, not even the most fanatic British boxing fan, pays more than the price of the shorts. Especially, when they'll be the shorts Khan wore after losing to Devon Alexander.

Typical waste of money that is somehow normal to the people in countries that steal from poorer countries.

sorry, i see your point. still don't think it is a great
idea to enter a ring with crazy expensive trunks. i
guess there can be other ways to raise money for
charity. some showing off element seems to be in
this. it is to me like other of his decisions: i see the
point and idea, but still think they are slightly off
balance.

it becomes more than a joke when the boxer's shorts are more talked about than his ability in the actual boxing ring.

in reality:
- will these shorts make a difference ... no
- will Alexander be bothered what he's wearing when he is trying to knock him flat... no
- will it look even more ridiculous a stunt if he losses... yes
- if he wins will he get an even more expensive pair in his next fight ... I dread to think

get off your high horse there's easier ways of giving to charity than making a c**t out of yourself and turning the sport into some reality TV b*llocks . This about Khan doing what Khan wants. Like I said shame because he's a cracking boxer.

Not about his boxing ability, just his personality.

You clearly think that the negativity aimed at his personality is not justified. My negativity is aimed at him coming across as being a bit of a d1ck. That's my personal opinion and it seems many on here. I'm getting abit bored of this conversation now.

 Because Amir Khan tells the truth ...

Perhaps he did that interview after sparring with Andre Ward.

They didn't look that special from where I was sitting. I would have no idea they cost much more than Alexander's trunks if not for the reports.

This so-called "clown" raises $341K in a single evening, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars more during similar events...and you have the audacity to criticise him for wearing extremely expensive shorts, paid for by advertisers, that will eventually be auctioned to charity? :o

There's no pleasing some people!
You don't understand charity yet ...

Do you think ANYONE in this world seriously values a pair of shorts from Khan/Alexander at $314K? This is more examples of the rich throwing money at charities, many of which are known to take a good % of donations, to appease the regular person.

So, it was all BS, and a waste.

The concept is'nt a bad idea . Get the publicity , auction the shorts for charity , win win situation .. But the problem is Khan just is'nt that popular , Ali was , Tyson in his hayday , could of pulled it off , Floyd Mayweather even , . But Khan , Naaw , don't think so , unless of course theres some ultra rich Asian who don't mind donating to charity

fergusg wrote:Amir Khan has a proven track record as a successful charity fundraiser. If the shorts are sold for anything exceeding £50K… and based on media feedback, they may actually sell for far more than £100K… then all those moronic naysayers must feel compelled to apologise for their derogatory remarks!

That being said, even if the shorts sold for £200K, none of these guys would make any attempt whatsoever to retract their criticism of Khan, they would instead find something else about him to undermine.
