Old news really. You'd have to be in the APB to qualify so doesn't mean Mayweather etc can just go to the Olympics.

Not sure this is a good idea. howeve I think WSB is an excellent idea and preparation for the pros.

Would a top class professional beat a top class amateur in amateur rules fight?

Some would, others wouldn´t. It´s a brave effort of AIBA to start the APB league. Let´s see if it succeeds or not.

They will let pros in who have less than 20 pro fights and they would have to agree to only box in APB. The set up for the APB will have national, continental and world level championships up to 12 rounds. Now if the boxers decide to fight in the Olympics, they will be back to 3 rounds so it will be a big adjustment. As far as the rules go, amateur boxing as you know it is done. AIBA has changed amateur boxing to be just like pro. The headgear are gone for 18 year old and up boxers, what AIBA calls elite level. The scoring is 10 pt must just like the pros and the refs have changed over to pro style reffing with pushing the boxers apart, talking to them, no harm no fould so all of the ticky tack calls are done with. It will make for much more exciting Olympic boxing anyway. The pros will have to decide if it is worth their while to fight in the Olympics. Remember, winning a gold in some countries is like winning the lotto and they could get a million dollars, house, cars, etc.

Most of the existing pros that have participated in APB have not done very well.

Marcos Nader (18-1) was their prize professional participant and he got knocked out in his first fight and lost a decision in the second.

Heavyweight Ahmed Samir was 11-1 going in and he lost all three fights in APB, including getting knocked out in the first round by Magomed Medzhidov.

Redouane Asloum was 11-2 going in and lost all three fights, including getting knocked out.

American cruiser Javonta Charles 2-0 going in was knocked out in both fights.

Of course, none of these losses really matter because BOXREC refuses to consider APB to be professional boxing. None of these fights are recorded. So if you Marcos Nader, you are still 18-1. Got knocked out? Nope, not according to BOXREC.

Professional boxers worldwide can participate in APB which is no different than any other professional bout, make even more money than they might otherwise in a "real" professional fight, and TAKE NO F%CK$NG RISK WHATSOEVER. That's right everybody, Javonta Charles who got KTFO twice is STILL AN UNDEFEATED FIGHTER!!!!.

Bravo BOXREC, Bravo

The Olympics needs to get its sh!t together one way or another. Pros have been in the Olympics for a while at this point. Pro boxers will just be a new thing for boxing. Based on other sports in the Olympics I don't see a problem with this & having the best pros from all over the globe fighting or playing baseball or basketball or whatever sounds way more entertaining to me than the best amateurs anyway so I'm for it across the board in every sports.

Amateur doesn't even seem like a real thing anymore anyway unless we're talking about some mfers playing ball in a park cuz all these people are getting some sort of money for participating in their sports. They seemed to have just changed the definition of the word amateur.

If you got beef with Boxrec over these records fair enough. That seems like a legit issue & I can see both sides of it.

As far as the money goes why shouldn't these boxers get some $$$. If your sport is able to generate enough attention to garner some profit the athletes SHOULD be getting some of it at whatever level they athletes are participating at. For too long so called "amateur" org's have been profiting & giving their best athletes lil stipends & that sorta deal. Give these people some coin you amateur athletics pimps.
