Yes. He is still locked up. Drug trafficking sadly.
There's a Setanta documentary on youtube on him. You can tell that he is broke and struggling to make any sort of money to feed his kids (he also seems to have an alcohol problem).
Anyway, not surprised that he went down the crime path...

Did he beat Alfredo Evangelista over in Spain? Frank Bruno in his autobiography described him 'Have gloves will travel' and was another one who boxed in West Africa (I think..)
He did. He was a lot better than his record suggests and another one of those fighters that if Cruiserweight had been around may have been much more successful.

Bunny Johnson was more successful but was similar in that he would fight anyone anywhere and also turned into a Journeyman heavyweight, and again if cruiser had been around who knows?

Tony Booth was quality. He fought everyone it seems. He even beat future world title prospect Omar Sheika. But loads of other good European fighters too.

He actually had real talent. Probably at middleweight would've been a top prospect.

To my fading memory; I only saw him live once against David Haye who looked really impressive that night on his debut.

I remember thinking it was a really dangerous debut for David as Haye had recently got Ko'd, but he destroyed Tony that night.

I boxed on a few shows with Tony, shared dressing room with him each time, he was a character, he told me he only got nervous fighting at home (in hull) proper tough guy fought anyone and everyone, also one of my good friends was in hull prison with him. He was doing as he liked in prison, he has a lot of respect in hull. Also he sparked a few so called tough guys in there :box:

Used to like Al Malcolm who cropped-up a fair bit when I first started following boxing....big lad from Brum who sometimes knew how to stick around in fights and took some decent prospects the distance and every so often pulled-off the odd nice result as well. Drew the short straw (not from a financial perspective) when Lennox made his much-awaited pro debut.

Looked up Al on Boxrec and he went in with Gary Mason twice, Jess Harding, Noel Quarless, Dave Garside, Hughroy Currie and of course Big Lennox. Noted that he got a draw with big Jess Harding and also beat Bobby Wells who actually had an Olympic medal from the LA games.

Seem to recall that Al was a fairly cool customer when he faced Lewis...the guy had a bit of style.

Paul Butlin used to always give it a good go. Sad to see him budgeoned by AJ.

Recently got a DQ win over former British Cruiserweight Shane McPhilbin for the Midlands Ares strap a few months back if my memory serves me did Butlin. Staying in the Midlands and I know he was also a Cruiser who pulled an upset win over Enzo Mac. Lee Swaby is another one.

I like Butlin, he is a good fighter, with a promoter who could guided him better, he could have got a lot more wins.

Stopping Colin Kenna in two was a hell of a good win.

Who remembers Andy Lambert? A hard hitting Brummie heavyweight - he had a few fights if I remember...

Just looked him up, he only had 7 fights winning 2 by KO and losing 5 by KO.......

Any one know what's happened with Big John McD?

Colin was really ill that week. I'd bet good money he wouldn't have stopped him if he was 100% but ya never know. Colin was a tough Journeyman for a while
I remember watching Kenna knock out Wayne Llewellyn in 2 rounds, i was sat with a mate and said 'Llewellyn is the bigger puncher here' and a second later Kenna landed the finishing punch.

I don't think Tony was on the breadline. Wasn't a pisscan either. Watched him as a light middle in about 1990 and then beating two of my friends in the noughties at light heavy and heavy! Tough guy.

Re Paul Butlin

Here is a link to his recent DQ win over MCPhilbin after the war of words over Twitter that led to the fight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWvArMzTnNg

Horribly scrappy fight, the first few rounds of Bika-Dirrell on the Brook-Porter undercard reminded me a lot of this fight.

The Gareth Couch V Henry Castle fight was a really good one that day wasn't it?[/quote]

Great little fight that one, shame that Couch's hand didn't hold up after breaking it a couple of years later, I think there was talk of a comeback around 2012.
Also Castles downfall was a shameful episode.
Shane Watson was a brave boxer as well, took his lumps against Cook in that southern area try.
There was some bloke called Billy on the bill as well, whatever happened to him?

Scott Belshaw. Once touted by Kellie as something big - http://youtu.be/UijNLjwPM_Q

He didn't quite have the heart or the skills to match the hype and ended up as fodder for a few big guys.

Remember fighting Tyson Fury when Fury was making his way up, Fury dropped Belshaw twice with bodyshots going by memory. Belshaw has since moved to Australia too.

Really? I didn't know that. I wouldn't have described Belshaw as a journeyman, just awful.

Kellie Maloney touted several heavies as future big fighters, the next 'Lennox' - McBride was another one.

Maloney knew not a lot about heavyweights; I assume Lewis was a fluke!

Legit knockdown for Belshaw as well, had Browne slightly shaken for a few seconds when he got up. Although he was smiling.
I remember Maloney talking about Belshaw being the next big thing, liken him to George Foreman. Then I watched him box and was shocked how raw he was, probably as far removed from George Foreman as you could get.

Yeah he looked shocking. Small head too. Not a good sign for a heavyweight. Still goes to show if you're big you can always land a big shot

Simeon Cover did a decent enough job of being a heavyweight journeyman despite starting as a super middle.
I believe hes retired now.

Had a decent dig on him but that was it. Belshaws defeat to Olubiwamo was an illustration of a fighter with no heart.
