Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
This has to be the worst diss I've ever seen DIRECTLY from another alltime great. Why did Roy goes so hard on Floyd? Is it pure jealously
because his highest paydays were in the 2million range or is he legitimitely fed up with Floyd's excuses of why he has continued to avoid
Manny for so long which is understandable. Then Floyd calling himself "TBE" doesn't help matters. At least when Ali called himself that
he really did go after ANYONE in his weight division that people considered dangerous like Hopkins does...so Ali gets the pass. Floyd
handpicks guys then calls himself TBE maybe this is what has gotten Roy worked up. He blatantly outright dissed Mayweather HARD
To Roy's credit though in his heyday he would have unleashed total allout Mayhem on Maidana's face and body ala Pazienza. Floyd just
coasts.

I didn't hear any 'hatred' from Roy Jones. Just the truth, the way he sees it--and the way the majority of the boxing fans see it.
What did he say that specifically upset you?

Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
John Ruiz $11 Million v Roy Jones Jr $25-26 Million
Roy Jones jr $6.375 Million v Antonio Tarver $2.075 Million[2nd fight]
$10M for both Jones and Calzaghe.
Which brings the question how the hell did Roy end up broke ?

Quite sad really
Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
How can Roid be the one talking about someone DUCKING when he ducked BHop for 10 years because he knew what most of us suspected that Nard would win anyway, furthermore Jones had to cheat his way to the top by using PEDs.
Jealousy will make people say some stupid stuff and Roy has it worse than anyone, despite his so called "exciting style" he never came close to making 20 plus million per fight, maybe Tarver knocked his head so badly that he is still under the delusion that he belongs at the top of the P4P list.

Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
Someone should ask him why he never fought Dariusz Michalczewski when they were the top 2 guys in the division for several years. Its forgotten now, but Roy was being a bit of a bitch back than about fighting the clear #2 guy in his division while he was fighting postmen, plumbers & police officers. This is an ironically hilarious video to watch with that info in hand.
Darius would attempt for six years to secure a bout with his American counterpart, Roy Jones Jr, without success. After his titles were stripped from Dariusz, Jones would win Michalczewski's belts and spuriously declare himself "undisputed world champion". Jones steadfastly refused all offers for a lucrative fight with Darius and even made an attempt to ban the mention of Michalczewski's name on his home network, HBO. Seth Abraham, president and CEO of HBO, refused Jones demand and in 2002 a fan poll showed that the fight fans most wanted to see was Darius Michalczewski vs Roy Jones Jr. Jones continued to refuse offers for the fight however

Can you imagine someone like Stevenson tried that with Kovalev? Would love to see the reactions to that

Roy is telling it like it is. Its those Mayweather groupies like Malignaggi who are way off base.
Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
I think Jone's angle is that he wants his fighter, Jesse Vargas, to fight Pacquiao instead of Floyd. I have also heard him say that the Pac fight is pointless now but Khan would be a better match-up for Floyd. HBO commentators always rip on Showtime fighters more it seems, and vice-versa.

Idk about the specific numbers, but Roy made a hell of a lot of money.cold187 wrote:no way man, source?crow wrote:John Ruiz $11 Million v Roy Jones Jr $25-26 Million

I think taxes is the answer to the original question though. Taxes have f#cked more athletes than the Kardashian family.

Roy vs Ruiz he was only paid 10 mil: http://a.espncdn.com/boxing/a/2003/0108/1489273.html
Calzaghe vs Jones, read this and tell me if you believe that they both got 10 mil: http://www.badlefthook.com/2008/11/15/6 ... pv-numbers they only did 225K PPV buys and money still had to be paid out of pocket for both fighters to their teams
Jones vs Cal chart: http://www.badlefthook.com/2008/12/10/6 ... ficial-ppv
Jones vs Tarver: http://www.secondsout.com/usa-boxing-ne ... -view-buys
This is really why Jones is so jealous of Floyd, he feels he was the more exciting and dominating fighter (same way Tyson feels) and is jealous because Mayweather is doing far better than he or Mike Tyson could ever dream of.
Like I said, this is about simple jealousy and hate and Jones is the last one who should be talking because he ducked a great many of fighters and it took him 10 years to finally muster the courage to face Hopkins when in reality he only took that fight because he needed the money.

Mayweather might make more in fight salary than Mike but Tyson had the endorsements down on lock. By Tyson's account, when he left prison in 1995, he had 400 mil before he ran back into King. Dumb move or not, that's more than Floyd ever had at any time.
Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
Roy dissed Floyd so hard I hope he never has the audacity the visit the Mayweather boxing gym or even fake smile greet Floyd at one
of them conventions/banquets. Believe it not I think the nail in the coffin was that TBE monicker rubbed both Tyson and Roy the wrong
way especially them witnessing the ducking of Manny P over the years I can understand to a degree. Someway, somehow, Floyd
will find another excuse in 2015 not to fight Manny. People are tired of this. Floyd has yet to sign anything just keeps poking at
Arum, these guys are fed up!

Tyson made $71 million from 1987-89, which is around $142 million adjusted for inflation.
https://books.google.com/books?id=XrsDA ... 89&f=false
Tyson was also the highest paid athlete in 1996, making $75 million. That's $113 million adjusted for inflation. Still more than Floyd has ever made in a single year.

Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
Omfg. Is it that hard to figure out? Jones is pushing his fighter towards a big payday, with Jesse Vargas, who is with Top Rank. If he puts down Floyd and Floyd vs Manny, and helps kill the fight, his fighter gets a big payday, and so does Roy.
You guys are reading a bunch of stuff into it that doesn't matter.
If you do some searching, you will find Roy with at least as many nice things to say about Floyd. These, were of course, before he started training Vargas - a potential Pacquiao opponent.

Roy's comments didn't strike me as that bad or anything that hasn't already been said.
Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
Yeah but they're laced with fueled jealous emotions, anyone can hear it or anyone who knows Jones' notorious history of ducking should be able to understand that he isn't in any position to call someone a duck after it took him 10 years to face Bhop and still lose on top of it.Evander wrote:Roy's comments didn't strike me as that bad or anything that hasn't already been said.
Jones is pathetic, went broke, never recovered to the top of the P4P after getting starched by Tarver and never made more than 20 million for a fight.
Of course he's jealous.

Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
This is what boxing needs right now, more legends to come out and call out Floyd like this. Floyd and his dumb TBE hats, give me a break. I do love how Manny thought TBE meant "The Best Excuse". Let's not forget that Roy is part of HBO and that might be the biggest reason why Roy is so outspoken. If anyone has watched The Fight Game with Jim Lampley, similar comments have been made on that show as well, also on HBO.
There was no one more spectacular than Roy Jones Jr in his prime. Anyone that thinks he ducked anyone is sadly mistaken. He was clearly the most skilled boxer i've ever seen his prime. Everyone gets old and the prime window is never fully open, in fact it starts closing immediately a little bit every day. Roy lost all his fights when that window was almost fully closed. Tarver couldn't touch Roy in his prime, that's a fact.
You European fans make me laugh. These "ducked" fighters you mention, I had to look them up because they are such garbage. You guys should keep on singing your Ricky Hatton songs as he gets knocked out by turnbuckles. Calzaghe is the only European fighter that i think was any good and he would only fight Roy Jones Jr at the very end of his career once Jones was way past his prime. The only reason any great American fighter would not fight Eurotrash is because they don't bring in any money because they lack international appeal. Until you come out with someone worthwhile to watch, you should turn your focus to American Fighters because they are clearly the best out there.

Cmon brother. Roy is the most unbeatable guy I've seen box since I've been watching boxing & I used to visualize myself as Roy in a mirror before training back in the day I thought he was such a bad mfer, BUT he ducked Dariusz. There isn't a doubt in my mind he ducked him. Why he ducked him is debatable, but he ducked him. This isn't even anything like the Floyd vs Manny situation where there are all these promoter, premium channel, dick measuring agreements (the $10M weight penalty & drug testing details) & past relationship issues going on that I'm aware of involved with this situation.caldo2025 wrote: There was no one more spectacular than Roy Jones Jr in his prime. Roy telling the truth about the protected coward fraud duck pretender.
"The truth is hate to those who hate the truth."
Floyd is a fraud. Wanting to box for $30 million vs Cotto or Khan instead of $200 million for two fights against a "midget amateur" (Manny Pacquiao) is the undisputed proof that Floyd is a coward fraud duck who only wants choreographed fixed fake guaranteed wins.

If Floyd is a fraud, Manny is a fraud to. They've beaten many of the same guys at 147. If you disagree you are being emotional or biased. If you agree that both are frauds fair play. I disagree with it, but respect you holding some degree of logic with your opinion.montrealsuper wrote:Roy telling the truth about the protected coward fraud duck pretender.

Re: Jones Jr's Hatred Towards Mayweather
Amen Reggie. Both should be blamed for the fight not happening, and at this point it doesn't really matter who is more at fault. Floyd we all know is greedy, but Manny is a lying sack of shit for saying Floyd can have any amount of money he wants. If you dig, you can find where both didn't make the fight simply because they are both prima donnas with ego problems. If they don't both bend to make the fight this time, I am done watching both guys. Easier said than done, I know, but I'll do it.ReggieDiggs wrote:If Floyd is a fraud, Manny is a fraud to.
