Does anybody have any pics or info on Augie Lapara?
I'm trying to gather pics, stats, etc for his 3 children.

I am not his daughter. I'm a cousin.
We have 2 Kim Lapara in NOLA
Thank You - Happy Holidays

You can find his record on Boxrec which should give you the dates of his fights which may make it easier to track information, fight reports etc in the local papers.

Sorry cannot be of more help. Good luck with it.

There is a photo of Augie LaPara in full body boxing pose on page 19 of the July 1945 issue of RING magazine. ( I am unable to post of the photo). Included with the picture of LaPara was the following bio :

AUGIE LAPARA
Augie LaPara, flashy New Orleans featherweight, will campaign in the North under the management of George Winn. Augie considers himself lucky to get George to handle him as the New York fight manager is one of the best in the business.

Winn, well known manager has never handled a losing fighter. He thinks highly of LaPara's punching and pleasing boxing style and thinks Augie will go far.

The New Orleans featherweight is a product of the Southern amateur ranks and bids fair to become as popular as his fellow townsman, Tony Canzoneri.

Boxing professionally only one year, Augie made such rapid strides that the hard punching Southerner has already appeared in three main events in New Orleans. With only one defeat against him since turning pro, LaPara and his manager, Whitey Esnault, feel sure he is ready for the big time.

Entering into his contract with George Winn, Esnault, the New Orleans manager of seven of the South's best fighters, has placed the destinies of his boys in the hands of the popular New Yorker.

LaPara, with two middleweights, Louis Rousse and Eddie Gettys, will be the first contingent to arrive this month. Bernard Docusen, Filipino sensation, will follow after completing dates already contracted.

Augie, a good looking youngster, matches his personality with a pleasing style of fighting. Always dangerous with either hand , the baby-faced kid boxes smoothly until an opening presents itself - when it lands the show is over. Confident, but unassuming LaPara should become one of the fighters of the year, because right now he is one of the best prospects of the year.

Thanks DavyMac. Also, in the March 1945 issue of the RING page 39, Augie Lapara was selected "Prospect of the Month" in the featherweight division.
