Besides, I think he was entitled to feel he was owed a father. Answering the point above.
Yeah maybe. But to still be making those mistakes in his 40s is a bit tragic. And he uses the past as a crutch to cling to, he's not in the hood anymore and hasn't been for decades. He was basically handed the opportunity to leave that life behind at 14 and was treated well yet still doesn't see how blessed he's been.
You don't simply change when you move environment. everyone of us is conditioned in the first 6 years of our lives by the environment we were in and everything our parents consciously and unconsciously taught us during those years. Most people are still playing out that conditioning in their 40's.

I'm not saying he would stopped having issues. But he was easily capable of not mistreating women, hanging out in the projects, neglecting his career etc.

Reading his book, his careers almost the afterthought.

I just don't see why he should get sympathy when still basically being a bad person well into middle age. Kicking old men in the bollocks over traffic incidents etc, if it was a chav on a council estate people would be ripping him to pieces for shit paper.

And I say that as a huge fan. I've been making excuses for him for 30 odd years. But reading that book, I just thought what an ungrateful brat.

Spot on :TU:

He loves it Tyson, "being from the hood". It's boring now. Seems like everyone today in sport/music/entertainment gives it "I'm from the ghetto, I had to sell crack rock to feed my daughter" blah blah blah"

They all do it. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
